The object of the series is to "raise clinician awareness of the impact of chronic pain; its assessment, treatment ... quality of life ..."
So far, in the first video, I learned that "in the US, severe chronic pain affects 10% of the population" and that "pain is an illness in its own right." "Chronic pain reflects the pathologic response of the nervous system ..." According to the first authority speaker, patients need to be taken just as seriously as if it is associated with disease management, and pain management should be taken care of by primary care physicians and referred to pain management only in complex cases.
I always thought it was necessary to find out what is causing my chronic pain. It's had me going to all sorts of specialists with little or no relief. It may take a while for me to accept that I may not find, and don't need to find causes, because my pain has gone beyond whatever started it. I'm interested to continue to view the rest of the series to find out about effective treatments.
