Had a good RA Doctor visit today, I told him how much it dried me out,
and he listened so we talked about iv saline, so on Thursday I resume the mtx
(methotrexate) and next Thursday go in and get a iv saline. fingers
crossed that this will help with all my dryness, I'm happy and have hope
again.
He could tell by feeling all my joints how swollen I was, I do have a limp, but
he said I walked good for being in pain, but I can hide it, after so many years of bad
doctors and such I've gotten a tolerance to my pain, except on really bad days,
but even then I exercise at home on my recumbent bike and do pt exercises...
But it was a good doctor visit and I have something to hope for...
and I see my new PM Doctor on December 20...

Glad you had a good doctor visit. I get what you mean about being able to hide it. Sometimes I think I am not showing my symptoms as clearly as people expect because of going so long now without any relief, so I am sorta mroe tolerant of it or something.

Hope you have some good days too. :) My next PM doctor app is on the 28th.

Chart glad to hear your appt went well. I am a little confused about what happened with you and the methotrexate, you said it dried you out. Does the dr think this is a side effect from it, or I guess the proper question is, is this a normal side effect if the drug? Is there something different he can try you on? Hope the IV helps but not sure I understand whats happened, lol. Take care.

Yes Methotrexate can cause dryness, and that with the sjogrens was too much
and methotrexate is about the only option for me due to reactions
to the other medicines for rheumatoid arthritis, plaqenil made me sick,
sulfa medicines also had a huge drying effect on me and the doctor
is very concerned about the other medicines such as humira and thinks
those are to dangerous for me...so mtx is my last hope, it was working
but then when I slowly increased it per doc orders it just dryed me out,
so hoping that the iv saline will keep me hydrated and believe me I'm drink enough water...
sjogrens doesn't help....
