Trying New Medication for BTP-Nucynta 100mg's tid

My CP doc put on another break thru med-Nucynta 100mg 3x a day in between 15mg's of oxycodone 1 tab 4x a day. I am just rotating them back and forth and using 90mg's of methadone for long my acting med-50mg's @6am and 40mg's @6pm and for the first time in along time I am actually getting some good relief lasting most of the day and night. With the addition of the Nucynta my pain coverage has doubled time wise. Since this works on different receptors the medication is working very well. And in the future as my pain level starts increasing they have a plan of rotating several different medications every 3-4 month's or as needed.  I finally have plan that should work..My last CP doc wanted me to stop all of my pain med's so I could build up my tolerance and basically start over. That was the last time I went to him..

Please let us know how the Nucynta works for you. My CP only gives me short acting meds at this point and flip/flops about even that. I would love to know of something else to ask him about.

Nucynta was a miracle drug for me - and is still going strong after a year of being on it. As Nucynta ER has just recently become available, we are in the process of switching over to that.....hope it gives you the relief it has given me!!!

I have tried this drug (I was prescribed the 100MG instant release formulation) - it helped quite a bit with the pain, but like its weaker sibling (tramadol) I also got some strange effects from it. My mood was all over the place, I couldn't sleep for days on end, and I got splitting headaches. I had high hopes for this drug since it's supposed to be helpful for those whose source of pain is chronic inflammation (like myself), but the side effects were too much.

I tried it and it helped alot for the pain but increased my anxiety too much so I am now back to square one. Good luck!

Hello No-Relief, I am Kathy/nini, I am curious since you were on and I guess methadone for a time, was it a short time?  I had been on medthadone for almost 8 years and at off the charts amounts, back when I was only going to my GP, and he left her gave me 3 months of scripts my scripts for methadone were 3 bottles with 100 10mg tabs a month.  Now of course I built up to the amount, I am not even sure what amount that would mean I was taking.

The first pm doctor I found after said that amount was deadly and ridiculus, and he would absolutley not give me anywhere near that amount.  I went home with a script for 140 for 30, I went thur a very slow, but not to agnoizing because of course I still had much in my system and was still giving  my body at least something.

Sorry got off subject kinda, What I would like to know is did you go thru any withdrawl going from methadone to what you are taking now, the new medicine?  I am very glad it worked for you, I am now on ms-contin, as the well he was about the 4th doctor I tried to find and like until I found I one I have now. Anyway the 4th, he was afraid of prescribing methadone, it has such a sigma.
