      I'm working on my morning list of members to reply to and you happen to be next here!

   OK!...lets start by asking you a couple of questions! You say that you started seeing this Rhuemy a year ago,...and that you have been off of your med's for several years as well....what med's were you on?....who scripted them?....and what was the max dosage? If you were diagnosed with Chronic Pain Syndrome a year ago....what were the pain meds for before that, and what,.. if any testing was done for your pain prior to the Rhuemy? These questions help the membership...so that we can better understand a little more about you.

   We also have a wonderful Fibro forum here, so please do visit it as well. Congrat's on the pregancy! I suppose your Dr is also aware of this?...Im guessing he will make sure you are taking the proper dosage and type's of meds.

      We all understand Chronic Pain here....so feel free to share and seek support from our members.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.  I am no longer pregnant.  I delivered a healthy baby girl sept 23rd.  I have found that since giving birth i am suffering more.  I have written it off to my body trying to heal from its ordeal   I will give a brief history of what I have been diagnosed with and what meds to the best of my ability.  The first time I ever heard Chronic was in 99 when I injured my lower back at work.  Several MRIs showed a herniated disc in the L5-S1 the doctors told me I had bursitis of the right hip and sciatica of the right leg along with chronic sacriolitis.  They put me on Darvocet and Soma along with Motrin.  I am so afraid of becoming addicted to meds I only would take them if I was littarally unanble to move just to avoid a trip to the ER.  I found a wonderful therapist who helped me heal my injuries the best they could and I was told that I would never be able to do all the things I used to without pain.  I moved on in life with that and then in 2004 I was in a car accident that changed my life. I suffered a traumatic brain injury that the drs did not diagnose till a month later.  I was told in the ER that my back was a mess.  they sent me home from the ER with hmm Darvocet and Soma with Motrin.. I soon realized that my injuries were much worse than what we thought.  I had internal bleeding.  A herniated disc in my cervical spine.  my old back injury had flared back up.  I could not move my toes on my left foot. but the worst was the memory loss I was sufferring.  We found later that I had swelling and bleeding of the brain. about a month after that another mri showed a small lucunar infarct.  That I needed balance therapy and memory therapy and biofeedback therapy along with physical therapy for the legs and back and neck.  I was put on a multitude of medications for migraines and pain.  Soma was always one.  I am allergic to percocet so they usually give me vicodin or darvocet.  I have been on Elavil but it did not help I cannot really remember alot of the meds they had me on for those years and unfortunetly my husband past away in 2006.  My health has not changed that much since 2006 I guess I have just gotten used to the pain and the good and the bad days.  I do not drive very often or very far due to anxiety and I am currently on zoloft and ativan.  I have a horrible primary right now and I am going to find a new one.  The one I have currently had not even read my chart uhhgg.  so for pain right now I am on vicodin and soma but it just makes me drowsy it does not really do alot for the pain.  The rhuemy said that is because with cps most pain medications are not effective.  I am a bit worried to go back on lyrica.  Does anyone have any pros and cons to lyrica.? I don't mind gaining the weight at all and I am tired of being so sick and exhausted.  My kids deserve a healthier mom. sorry this was so long.

Hello, Kathy here, I take (along with other meds) neurontin which is very helpful for my fybro.  Its amazed me how well it works,, I take 300 to 600 mg 3xday.

I really dont understand why a doctor would tell you narcotic will not help your pain, thats simply not true, you need to find a Pain Management Doctor, or Clinic and take your records with you, your disc pain alone is enough for you to be treated with something more that darvocet, which to me is like taking regular tylenol, its nothing.  Vicodin is a little better.  Even though you are alergic to perc's there are many other meds out there you can try.  As far a worrying about becoming addicted, you will become dependent possibly on the meds, but addiction is a word we try not to use, I used that word while trying to explain something to someone,and was reminded (and I was glad to be reminded) the word dependent is not as explosive a word as addiction.

If you want a good quality of life for yourself and your baby girl, you must feel as good as you possibly can, if that includes narcotic meds, its so worth it.
