I hurt my ankle about 3 yrs ago, my dogs knocked me down , while they were playing, my ankle swelled but it was fine, recently the pain is back, sometimes I cannot put pressure on it, I am 64, I wrap it before exercise, It is server sharp pain, no insurance at the moment, can you suggest what else I may do for it?

Hi Ising and welcome to the chronic pain forum. I understand the no insurance thing but really it would be best to get in with a dr and get this ankle checked out. My thoughts are something this old cropping up from time to time really does not sound good but then I am not a dr and no one else is here at the forum. Sort of like its better to be safe than sorry.

Other than icing for any swelling, wrapping it, staying off of it, elevating it when swollen just not sure what else you could do. You could try some Ibuprophen as well. If you have any inflammation going on. A lot of drs offices will offer discounts to patients that do not have insurance too. Most would rather get cash rather than jumping thru hoops with insurance companies.

Thank you very much, it seems that it just started hurting again, when I have taken up exercising more often, I don't have long to wait until I have insurance again, just the waiting period now. I have been taking Ibuprophen, but darn today was the first day for my Zomba class and I had to miss it... cry
