I've had the same type of problem before. I had a doctors appoinment that coincided with me needing refills on three medications that he had me on for over a year. Well, I showed up and he didn't. "No problem", I thought. I figured I'd call the next day and he'd fax the pharmacy refills of at least enough of each prescript
ion to last until I got to see him on my rescheduled appoinment fourteen days later.
Nope.
According to his nurse, he refused to call them in until our next appoinment, which left me without the wellburtrin, levothyroxine, and tramadol that I'd been on for a very long time. It goes without saying that it wasn't a pleasant two weeks. It wasn't my fault that he didn't show up and it was inexcusable of him to have me on those medications for so long and then basically leave me out in the cold. I got very sick because of this and probably could have gotten him into a lot of trouble if I'd complained to the right people, but I didn't. Instead I gritted it out until our appointment and asked him why he'd refused to refill those prescriptions. He seemed dumbfounded. As it turned out, his nurses simply didn't relay my requests to him and he didn't have any idea that I needed the refills. At least that was his story. I've had no problems since then, but if I ever do again, I'll find a new doctor after I file a complaint against my current one.
