Hello: I generally post on the Fibro forum however; this post caught my attention. This injury between the hip and buttock sounds like an injury I sustained in a crash. It turned out to be a facet joint. Both ice and heat alternately helps me best. Also, for my injury the physiotherapist said "you can't injure it further so do what you want as long as you (me), can withstand the pain". I try to keep going, walking several kilometers daily. I walk as long as I can and then lie down with heat and sometimes ice (although I prefer heat). The long term prognosis depends on age and how well one heals. Like arthritis, staying as active as possible is best. Of course, you do need to know exactly what it is you are dealing with. Unfortunately, soft tissue injuries don't show up on any x-rays or imaging tests. Good luck.
