Survivors.... Monday!

 

       ....I worked the weekend of course!....thats all I seem to do!   I'm also, still struggling with the Fentanyl patch, even after a med increase to the 50mcg dose. We also went to a 48hr changeout, but seems to make no difference. The delivery system leaves much to be desired and I wish they had this in pill form. There are too many variables,...placement, absorption rate, body heat, ambient temp,... and so forth. Grrr! GRRR!   Dont get me wrong!...it's a great med,...just a poor delivery system in my opinion.

Sorry to hear you are still having medicine issues SE:(...When is your next Dr.'s appt.?

My weekend was pretty decent as I have been recovering from my lower back herniation back on July 3rd...Last night was the first night I did my regular walk (mile and a half)!!! I obviously rested the first 5 days...but then slowly started moving around and walking....just taking it step by step.

So thankfully my prayers are answered in that I didn't want to need immediate surgery as happened with my cervical herniations..

I mailed off some more paperwork for my disability that was sent to me. It was a bit tough staring at the pages of "What did you used to do before your injuries"..(hobbies/personal life)..as well as writing down my jobs and what I used to be able to do...

And then my PM called this morning saying they just received their paperwork to fill out.

The other part I had to laugh is that the paperwork I received said that I needed to fill it out within 14 days from the date of the letter. It's funny how they want us to rush everything but they can take months/years...LOL

Anyway...obviously I pray that I am one of the lucky ones that will get approved quickly without a first denial..I know it's a long shot...but a girl can hope!:)

Tina...is your change in dosage of your medicine helping you?

 

 Snowflake...I just saw him...so basically another month to go...and it might be rough for me. If I get to a point I can not handle it anymore, then I will call to get in early. This has really sucked big time!   He did say that if this does not work, then we will have to seek out another med...and I'm thinking Dilaudid maybe ER.

       I have only a couple more to try, and if they fail then he said he would send me in to be tested for a pump.   ...also I just won't do methadone...or he is really going to have to twist my arm on it.

     ..yes!...it seems that Tina and I cycle at about the same time with pain and med issues. Really weird! ...you would think we are related!

        I hope you get your SSD approved...and the first time is hard to get...but it does happen. I think Betsey Ross got hers on the first try, and also one other recently, but cannot remember the name.

I survived the weekend, but that's about it. I get my new patches this Thursday, and I can't wait to get one on. My breakthrough meds hardly do a thing.

In case everyone is wondering what happened, my second box of 5 patches came up missing. I never found them. I've been without since Friday before last. The withdrawls have been horrible as usual, but they're much better now. My back hurts like mad.

Well, that's how my weekend went. I have 2 appointments this week. One tomorrow with my counselor, and Thursday with my new psychiatrist.

I'm recovering from the June 22 surgery - decompression laminectomy and double fusion of L3, 4 and 5, for spondy? I don't remember the name of spondy problem except it is when one disk slips over another - something like that. Maybe spondyliosis. Anyway, it's over!!!!!!

I'm on my 4th round of hydrocodone and the muscle relaxer got filled today for the second time. I think I am doing very well. Pain is somewhat curtailed due to the norco, but it's not a life saver. I can be on my feet about 10-15 minutes before pain comes in the lower back so I promptly sit down and pain is relieved to a point. I am walking up stairs at the beach house, but I cannot tackle walking in the sand until after the x-rays which are at 6 weeks...so around August 12 or so.

Aside from the back pain which is not horrible, just somewhat noticeable, my skin feels like it's very tender to the touch - like I've been on bed sheets too long which, of course, I have not. The incision is healing okay, but I guess it's just from the operation itself. Not really important when you look at the big picture.

I've tried to follow your advice before I had this surgery - not to overdo. Thanks everyone and I hope all of you are seeing improvements as well.

That is awful! Did the pharmacy not give them to you? Is there no one that you can call? That seems very harsh on your body to go through withdrawal from Fentanyl cold-turkey, with nothing to wean you. That's terrible. Can't your doctor help you? I think, if I remember correctly, that you have had problems with getting your medications before (with delivery)? If so, could your doctor give you some extras to keep on hand when something like this happens. It just seems like it would be pure torture.
