After being cancelled yesterday due to my PM not submitting the proper documentation I got the call this morning that I am back on for tomorrow. Enough to drive me crazy! Having paddle leads done so its slightly more invasive but I think the better choice. Of course today from mid thigh to toes I am burning like never before and I am all swollen, geeze!
I will let you all know how things go!

…Shell!…we all wish you the very best as you head into surgery tomorrow!
My first advice it to take care of yourself first, and then when you get to feeling a bit better on the recovery road, then come back and give us an update.
Take care,

Wishing you the best, Shell, along w/ everyone else. Take care of yourself... and I hope you have a safe implantation and a "relatively" easy recovery.
Update when you can.

Thank you everyone! With such fluctuating pain levels its hard to say what exactly I expect. The week of my trial I had moderate pain levels and a good response. We will see! Fingers crossed for the best.

I am on my home and feeling ok. Not much worse than a super dupper really bad back ache. Give that a few hours and that will change I assume, lol. Right now I have full coverage from toes to right below the belt line. Minus the two small toes on each foot. Knock on wood it stays like this and only gets better. Unfortunetely, I have had 3 episods of being incontinent of urine since in recovery, hopefully just an irritation to the nerves in the lumbar/sacral area due to swelling. I am sure I will not be sleeping tonight and heading to the chat rooms, lol. Thank you all for the well wishes!

Thanks for the update! Did you contact the Dr. about
the urine issue just to let them know? I would do that as it has happened a few times to have it on record and have them let you know when it would be time to worry if they need to adjust something...
I will certainly say some more prayers that you continue to heal and have this really help with the nerve pain!
I keep forgetting about
chat on here so will try to pop in as well!

Shell
Glad to hear you are home and the implantation went well. The first few days are bound to be a struggle, probably no different to any op. Let's hope it all settles and you benefit and get a terrific result. Keep posting and let us know how you are. I will be thinking of you.

Interested in hearing how you like your new implant....
I'm sorry I don't know why you got the SCS was it back or neck pain?
What does it feel like... do you feel it really helps relieve the pain... please let me know
Best wishes!

It is way to early for me to make any conclusions. There is tons of swelling so sensations are very weird at this point. The SCS placement for me was for lower back/leg pain.
Right now I have superficial numbness from the waist down and occasional incontinence. I have very good coverage as far as I can tell. With certain setting I can feel the tingle from mid back to toes. Getting the right placement is key. My pain is widespread so often certain areas are missed, but so far so good for me. Its very difficult to get everywhere according to the drs. It should only get better as swelling goes down.
The feeling it gives me is sort of between the momment before your foot falls asleep and a gentle massage. The unit can be adjusted for different sensations and intensities, right now my programs are very basic. As swelling goes down these will be changed as needed. I have been told my rep will be my very best friend, lol.
I will be sure to keep everyone updated as to how things go!

To those with SCS implants just wondering how long the superficial numbness lasted. Right now I have numbness from mid back to my toes while the unit is on. I can feel a pinprick but not light touch.
Also while the unit is on,if I stand up after sitting for a while I have urine leakage, sometimes alot. Does that sound familiar to anyone? The dr is aware but didnt seem concerned.
Also wondering about
levels, how often do you need to increase your program on you remote? Just seems I adjust to the level very quickly and need it higher to even notice it. And thats not related to position changes, thats sitting in one position.
I do understand that programming will change lots over time and right now epecially due to swelling and healing. Just wondering what to expect.
I have a follow up the end of the month and can contact my rep any time. My rep in actually going on maternity leave any second, so I have 4 other people on call, 2 of which I have met allready. Just looking for some real life experiences to give me some insite.
Thanks all!
