Just to let you know that i am thinking of you. As a person who has had many knee ops, and has bilateral partial knee replacements, I can sympathies with your knee pain, it is up there with back pain when it is bad. It is just unrelenting. It definitely sounds like something is going on, I hope for you it is nothing to do with implant being loose. I do think having the scan done will be beneficial, if only for the peace of mind.

If you do need more surgery, you need to speak to your surgeon upfront and tell him of your awful experiences. Unfortunately the exPerience with waiting for pain meds is all too common, here in the UK too. The anaethetist here is responsible for immediate post op pain, so you have to speak to them too. I know after I woke up in horrible pain after my first back op, I was really frightened for the next one. I kept mentioning my previous experience to doctor nurse anaethetist, I am sure they thought I was like a broken record lol, and my subsequent experiences were much better. So have hope Betsey, it might not be as bad

I am sure you are right, that you need more time to heal. It takes a long time to recover from joint replacement surgery and it is very painful trying to get full movement back. I have seen some people almost skip out of the hospital but I know for me recovery was slow. Same when I broke my leg, it took seven months to heal. So yes, it could be just that you need more time.

Being in the UK I just can't imagine how awful it must be to have to pay so much for a bone scan. I have private health insurance but I think us UK citizens take the NHS for granted. They are first to complain about it. They think everything is free, but it isn't. Even in Scotland prescriptions are free!! I am on fentanyl patches and OxyContin, both expensive in the US, but free here. We don't have the restrictions you have, nor the pill counts and urine tests. I know we have nothing to hide but I really would hate that invasion. Also my GP can provide opioids. Pain management doctors tend to prescribe when the doses are higher.

Anyway, I am off subject, I will be thinking of you today. I am in bed....again with the worst back pain. I hate lying down to it but when it is bad like this I have no option. So as I recline here, you will be in my thoughts and prayers!! Have faith Betsey, when do you get the results? I hope you don't have to wait too long.

I had my bone scan done today and the tech told me nothing. I will call the PM doc on thursday to see if they can tell me anything.

morning Betsey!….glad to see the scan did not show a problem with the knee. However, I know that your still in a lot of pain there, and I hope that they can get it under control soon for you. I have started taking "Nucynta", and although its not the best pain relief, it does seem to help a bit. Maybe you can inquire about it at your next PM visit, and give it a shot.

Took my pill this morning and we went out for breakfast and when we got home we cored, blanched and pulled the outer peel off a big pot of of roma tomatoes . We did those and we have 2 more pots of tomatoes to do the same thing. That will be another day.

I took another pill even when Im not due for one but I needed it so much. Pain going up my back into my shoulder blades. That never happened before so I will report that to PM doc tomorrow.

I know that feeling. Nothing is worse than having expensive scans done that come back inconclusive. Went through that in April about my increasing back pain. Had x-rays, CAT Scan, and a MRI done - and they did show up a definitive spot at L4 on my spine that wasn't there even 6 months prior (could have been evidence of metastisis from my cancer). 4 doctors looked at these scans, and couldn't agree or dissagre what these spot was or wasn't.

It was a lot of time and money spent, to get no answer

Sorry your knee is still hurting so bad, hope you get an answer and a solution soon
