I did see the neurologist today and he has set me up to do another emg testing for next Friday, (egads. oh, well)
and I'm going off to see another specialist about the vertigo, someone get me off this merry go round...and
hopefully I will know more soon...but he does agree that it's more than a b-12 deficiency thing going on.
As far as other things my left hand now has my ring finger crossing over the bigger finger beside it and
my appointment with the rheumy is in November, if it's him or his pa I see....
Ya know... what it sure would be fun to be able to stick a needle in a doctor, see how they'd like that...
I have size 26 and 28 cross stitch needles I wonder which one I should use???
So still wondering whats going on with me...

thanks for the update, sounds like you will be keeping your doctors busy for awhile.

i remember something the gastro doctor told me on the first visit, after reviewing my massive medical files that had been transfered to him. he looked at me and said, "Gee fellow, you are chocked full of issues." made me laugh at the time, and he didn't know the half of it.

I have often had the wish to stick a needle in one of my docs lol! For all the needles they stick in us and all the tests. Seems fair to me!

Hi Chart, It is one of those nights or early early mornings, where sleep escapes me. so while wide awake I thought I would catch up on the forum.  Chart, I am glad you posted an update, I was wondering how you were doing. You sure have been through allot, I do hope they can eventually find some answers for you and find out what is going on! I think it is the "not knowing" or having a firm diagnosis is the hardest thing!  I do hope you can get some concrete answers  soon!  I know you have probably heard this a million times, and as trite as this might sound, I will say it anyway, "hang in there my friend!"  wink You know Chart I do wish you all the best! And I mean that!

WhiteBeard, It is so hard not having a dx, but also the Dx's are also scaring me at this point. Honestly, I'm not sure how this first appointment when
as I choke and froze up...Some of the questions he was throwing at me just really threw me, I'm been having these problems for so long and trying
to get someone to listen that I really didn't know how to express myself good...stage fright...also has me scared that I have to be off the flexeril
for the emg...and the test he wants me to have for the vertigo, would mean me having to be off my pain medicines and at this point I don't know
if I can do that, I'm not taking a lot of pain meds but what I do take is sorely needed just to get thru the day. and on Wednesday I have to give my PM
Doc my decision on the neuro stim trial (medtronic) So this is an important week for me.
WhiteBeard, sure nice to see you, Hope things are getting better for you? and have you made your big move yet?

Thinking of you, Chartreux... and sorry you have to go through another emg... not fun, for sure. But, even though I know a diagnosis is scary - sometimes I think that's half the battle is just finding out "what" is going on.

I've had so much on my mind... I guess I missed that w/ you.... are you thinking of doing the SCS? Do you know which way you are leaning?

Whatever the case, praying for you to have the strength to get through everything.... and, as WB said, to just hang in there w/ it all. I know how hard it is at times.

Chart, sorry to hear of you having another emg coming up. Has the dr said why he is repeating the emg and what he is looking for? I am with Tina about getting a dx being half the battle. I know you have had more than your fair share of unknowns over the years, real frustrating.

I hope your appt goes well with the dr checking on the vertigo. Hopefully this guy will have some answers for you.

Hi Chart

I'm sorry to hear that things have not been going well for you lately. Having to have another EMG is definitely no fun, but if it helps your doctors figure out what is wrong/treat you, then it's worth it. Let's hope it provides some answers, you don't need any more frustration, to say the least! You're definitely in my thoughts and prayers!

On a brighter note, how's your daughter doing? She must be just about done with school now!

Hi Chart I just had to add that I'm thinking about you. I've never had an EMG. but the way people are talking, it must be very painful. Hang in there. Hopefully it will give some answers for you. I hope you find out really soon what's going on. Take care.

Skeye, my daughter Jazzi is close, she will graduate Dec 2013 with Music Ed degree with Honors. Thank you

Loretta, yep EMG can be painful, the worse one is the sticks in the probing the back.

Tina, Yes, SCS but will post pone that for now.(my doc does medtronic and I might ask if he'd do a Boston Scienitific(SP?)

Costs for me to see these specialists is $50. ($200.00 in doctor's fees this week) and I told my endocrin doctor today that I need to put off any other visits until January, but he did 1 vial of bloodwork today.

Hi Chart. I know the EMG studies can be painful especially the nerve conduction part of them. I have had a few of them in my arms and legs, they are not fun! As for my move, it is temporarily on hold, I was suppose to go to a pain clinic down in Lexington in November after I moved, then I found out I could not continue with my current pain management regime, as this pain clinic that my PCP down there referred me to, does not do pain medications, at least any that contain narcotics. They are strictly injections, and holistic. I have done all that in the past, and it did not work or last, I have been on my current pain management regime for quite a while now, ( years ) and although it is not perfect it is better than anything I have had in the past. I am not willing to go back to the way I was. So I am in the process of trying to get a new PCP and pain management doctor. I did get things straightened out with my land lady, and I do not have to sign another lease, so I am not stuck here for another year. So right now I am not going to move until I get this pain management thing straightened out.

 

I know what your going through Chart, I have gotten so many different stories from different doctors, I have literally begged them to do a spinal tap and check my spinal fluid, because, some doctors say they don't think my spine is causing all my problems, and they think possibly MS, I have had an MRI of my brain, and there are spots but they are not sure if it is MS or not. But as of yet no one is willing to do the lumbar puncture. Over the years I just get tired of the run around, and have said to heck with it. The Baclofen has helped allot with the spasms, allot of my symptoms come and go, and sometimes they have left me with a deficit. Anyway, keep the faith Chart, and I do hope that they will eventually come up with a diagnosis for you. I know the feelling of not knowing is the pits! I can relate and empathize with you!

Saw my pm doc today and he is allowing me an extra pain med at bedtime, when needed. As when my finger crosses during the night it wakes me crying in pain and my sleep has gone down the tubes, so to speak. Its supposed to cool off on Friday morning might make the doctor yell at me as it'll be hard to warm me up to get a good emg, so not looking forward to that, I can't help it if I'm always cold.

Chart, I know what you mean about always being cold, my Dr. said its because of my thyroid, I'm on syn-thyroid, but can't help it, the cold goes straight to my bones.

I also have never had an EMG, but i just wanted to tell you good luck and i will pray that it at least goes quickly and not to painful for you.

Hi Chart...Thanks for giving us an update..I'm glad that Dr. has ok'd an extra pain med for you to take when it gets bad at night.

I hope the EMG test goes ok for you...Can you stay bundled up right up until you have the test? Another thing to use is a ThermaCare wrap. They can be bought at pretty much any store from Walmart, Walgreens, to grocery stores.

If you put this on your back/neck for quite a few hours before the test and then take it off on your way to the appt. so that way there isn't any extra sensitivity on that spot of your skin. It does a great job at helping me stay warm all through the cold months...

My daughter has the thyroid issues, she is hypo, but my bloodwork usually always comes back good, on Monday my blood pressure was 96/64 and
the nurse said that was normal....

Okay, so this neurologists said next step would be a nerve and muscle biopsy, but that he would not recommend that yet, or until
things get worse...so he seemed to think most of it is coming from my back, no surprise there, ...
However, I do go to get my ears checked in November...(for the vertigo) See what tests this doctor will put me thru...
and I feel like I'm still grasping at straws....by the pricking of my thumb something wicked this way comes...and ouch...
