I can't believe it

I'm going to try and make this as short as possible.

My PCP had set me up back in August to see a Rheumy. Anyway the earliest they could get me in was the middle of February. So I call my insurance company and they found me someone else and I was in to see him today.

You know I can't even count how many doctors I've seen on this pain in the rear roller coaster ride for the last 7 plus years. And most the time I either get more added diagnosis's or mostly blown off and told I'll have to learn to live with it.

April of 2011 between my insurance company being a pain and I honestly was ready to give up because all the medical professionals said to live with it, I actually thought I was nuts and all my pain was just in my head.

Well today I met the most wonderful doc ever! He actually sat and listened to me and my hubby. Told me I was not crazy and couldn't believe that any medical professional wouldn't think that a vertebral compression fracture wouldn't hurt. He was concerned that I took myself off all my pain meds last year. He told us the reason why the meds weren't working was because I was being undermedicated. SO he wants me back on the MsContin but instead of twice a day three times a day. And in a month he wants to up the dosage. He wants to have my pain level while being physically active to be no higher than a 4. He said that he can't believe I've been on the amount of ibuprofen that I'm on for 7 years. I need to be off from it because yes it is causing my high blood pressure and wants me to start taking Mobic.

He's also very baffled on why I have a fracture when I don't have osteoporosis. All I can say is I like to be different. Beats me. LOL

I had more bloodwork done today then I think I have in the last few years They do everything in the office and he had some of the results in while I was still there and the rest will be ready in a week or two. But he was concerned that my rheumatoid factor was high. So we're waiting to see what all the other tests results come back as.

Haven't started any of the new meds yet, my back doesn't feel any different than usual, but inside I feel like jumping around and dancing!

My hubby said that looks like your going to get a couple new things to add to your list of health issues. And I don't care, at least I found someone that is listening to me and working with everything going on.

That is wonderful news. Isn't it nice to have a dr that sits and listens to what you have to say. A good dr makes all the difference in the world.

I also take Mobic and you really need to take it on a full stomach. My PM dr says a couple of crackers will not do either. So far I have not had any trouble.I hope the increase in your meds will give you the relief you need.

congratulations that's great news. An understanding doctor..there's nothing like it. And he listened to you. that's great. i hope you get the relief that you deserve from the increase. take care.
