Daughter to the DR tomorrow

I'm so sorry that your daughters doctor is giving you such a hard time. I think to at least put your mind at rest she needs to see a hem/onc doc.

I hope they figure out what's going on with her FAST. I totally understand your worry. When my daughter was 7 she pointed out a lump on her skull. At first we thought she bumped it. Long story short she had fibrous dysplasia of the skull. It had grown all the way through the inner and outer table of the skull. It was down to the dura, that covers the brain, if it would have went longer it would have gone into the brain. They ended up exposing the brain and had to remove the skull area were the lesion was. Her surgery was the longest 8 hrs we have EVER gone thru. Then we had to wait to see if it was cancerous or not.

Thankfully, it WASN'T cancer, but a huge scare for us. Of course she was upset cause they shaved her head on the right side. The incision had 45 stitches, she cried so hard when she first saw her head. After several weeks off school she was back and playing in class. Kids are tough little things, she's 19 and her skull is as thick as it was meant to be now.

I say this as a mother to you, WE, know our children better than ANYONE! If your instincts are sounding off then get her in ASAP and have her checked. You both will be in my prayers.

This morning the PCP office called back and said that they were referring her to a specialist. At this point I dont really care if it was just to make me shut up,lol. I took the GYN drs recommendation instead of the PCPs as I want to deal with a pediatric specialist from a major hospital verses the small local place.

I spoke to the receptionist at the PCP and she said they would fax the referral over at some point during the day. Then the hematologist/oncologist would decide if they would take her. I actually got a call back within 15 minutes of the paperwork being faxed with an appointment for December 12th.

At least now I can have a slight bit of relief that someone is going to at least go over everything and triple check what needs to be done or watched.

Thank you all again for your support! Moms get alittle crazy when its their little ones that are ill,lol!!

It's like I said in another thread before, someone had to finish with the lowest passing GPA in their class, right?

This guy is chasing zebras and not referring to, or at least consulting with a hematologist? That's frankly absurd. Unless you live somewhere out in the wilds, and this doc is the only game in town, I strongly recommend finding a new PCP. If your insurance company balks at changing docs at the wrong time of year or some silly thing, state exactly why you don't trust him, and that you want another in-network doctor.
