Thanks for the update...Thankfully he is trying to make sure you get some answers to all the nausea and weight loss...
Did you mean "metastatic cancer"? I tried to look up metalizing in case I misunderstood...
For some reason I was thinking that they did a PET scan recently on you to see if it had spread but I didn't think they found it had spread anywhere yet....so maybe you could explain a bit more when you feel like it. Where does he say it has spread? Or do they have a PET scan scheduled...I'm sorry that they are now using this term...
So you have decided to still not try any hormone therapy or Chemo....do they think this would not work at all?
And just fyi but you are actually on a pretty low dosage of pain medication...Even compared to a lot of us here without cancer.
Being on only 75mcgh of Fentanyl and Lortab as breakthrough is not that much. I'm really surprised that they wouldn't change any of them for you as there really isn't any ceiling on medication like this and as I mentioned, you are a long way from some people who function just fine with their medication...
I mean...they could have easily just given you as I wrote on your other thread, Roxicodone 15mg or 30mg to have as your breakthrough medication...Then this way if you don't want to raise the Fentanyl....you can at least really knock down the pain when it gets intense and only take it as needed. As Matt and I mentioned, that we are concerned about
the Acetaminophen causing you issues long term and adding to your stomach pain.
Lortab is pretty much the lowest opiate (just above codeine of Tylenol 3) So that is truly disappointing that nothing is changed as you absolutely shouldn't have to suffer at all. And as I said...this wouldn't even be close to making you less functional...
In fact..better pain control would make your life even better so that you could be out enjoying more things!
Sorry...I am just upset for you on this regard but I guess if it was something that you wanted you would have pushed for it or told them.
You'll have to let us know how the Lexapro does as I've never heard it prescribed for nerve related pain. That is usually Cymbalta, Neurontin, or Lyrica. So if this helps with nerve pain...then it's another one that Drs. can start using..
And I wouldn't be at all surprised if you don't have some level of depression with dealing with your cancer, pain, and all of this...Many of us here are on depression medications as this can develop when we live with CP...
I certainly hope that the appt. with the new Gastro will be asap and that they really get to the bottom of the stomach issues for you...
Again...we just all want the best for you!!! I have two other friends who are battling cancer as well...So I'm always praying for all of you!
