My mom was pregnant for me while she was living on base with my dad there, and the Navy and Marine Corps have recently confirmed that the water supply was contaminated my unnamed and unknown chemicals and solvents, including some radioactive ones from the 1950s through the 1980s. I think they started piping water in from another town around then.
Just wondering if this could be a contributing factor to some of the issues I've been having. I've seen research that there is a 4x higher rate of male breast cancer for men who were on that base than the general population for example.
I was born off base, back home in Louisiana, but from 2 months pregnant until very near delivery, they were on the camp's water supply. Dad shipped to Vietnam 2 weeks after I was born, and has developed mesothelioma recently. Can't tell if it was LeJeune, or the stuff they were spraying all over the jungle over there. Or something else he was exposed to in the meantime.
I'm in the process of writing a 4 page letter to my doctor, being very detailed about my medical history, since those little forms they have you fill out don't let you get much info in, and I figured I'd add that, just for his info, but I was curious if anyone else here was exposed to this too.
