Hey Chronic Pain family,

It's Monday! Time to check in and let us know how you are doing.... how you "survived" the weekend.... and what's going on for the week ahead.

Not that great of a weekend, on top of the regular back pain, my stomach has been tied in knots since friday, and just feels blown up like a balloon, not sure what the issue is, but given my history of digestive issues over the past few years, I'll be making a trip to the ER if this gets worse or doesn't clear up by tonight. On top of that, my feet and ankles are swollen up pretty bad, I can't even get my shoes on, and they're extremely tender to the touch, the tops of my feet feel.like they're badly sunburned, same with the toes, and the color is also starting to make me worry.

Lots of phone.calls to make today, and possibly some erands to run, no major plans for the week until Friday, then I have to go birthday shopping for the little man, he'll be turning 3 next week. Hope everyone is doing OK. Have a good week.

Hi Matt, have you been checked for gout? My husband has it and he has those same symptoms with his feel. They sometimes hurt so bad i can't even touch them without him flinching in pain. I hope you feel better soon.

As for my weekend, it wasn't that bad pain wise for a change. It was manageable.

Birthday, was last Friday, This week I have one doctor visit and I hope it goes good. Plus I'm now on presription folic acid to help get back on methotrexate to get the inflammation down. So will have to work my way up on the methotrexate slowly, so need well wishes on that. Hands knees and feet are all swllen due to RA.

My weekend was easy to explain. 2nd weekend in a row, that I have had to care extensively for my wife. Its starting to take its toll on my health issues, but I have to keep pushing on. No other choice, until she is back on her feet again.

It was a gorgeous weekend here weather wise, and I did my best to spend some time outdoors with the dogs. Pain-wise, the last few days haven't been great, and I'm out of meds, as I have had to take them more & more often this month (with doc's permission). I see my doc next week, and I'm sure that I could call and get a refill before then, but I rather not, as money is tight, and we are planning on changing some things around when I see him next. I don't always take my pain meds every day, so it might be a tough week, but it won't be anything that I haven't dealt with many times before.

On the positive side, I got my official medical clearance to return to grad school in January!

I didn't do much this weekend, just kind of loafed it away. I did see the Neurosurgeon today, my moving to Kentucky is on hold for a while. And my lower back has been giving me fits, so my spinal pain management doctor wanted me to go back to the neurosurgeon, that I seen earlier this past spring. So I seen him today, he wants a new MRI , and flexion X-rays of my lower back, as my last ones were done last January, and I have some new problems. So I am having the MRI and X-rays done the 16th, and then two hours later I see the neurosurgeon, and he said we will go through all the pictures and see what is there and if there is anything he can do that will help me. If you remember he was going to do a framinotomy and far lateral diskectomy and fusion at L3/4 but I wanted to have it done down in Kentucky, but the surgeon down there, did not think it would help so I was suppose to get a third oppinion when I moved down there. Well since then I have had some major problems with pain in my lower back going into my buttocks, and down the back of my legs to the back outer part of my knees. That is becides the problems I was having with my lower back and the pain in the front of my thighs. Anyway if he still thinks that I need the surgery, or if he thinks I need a different type of surgery, or maybe none at all I will find out on the 16th and then deal with what ever comes from that appointment.

One more thing Tuesday is Election Day don't forget to vote. It is our legal mini revolution that we have every four years, and it is important!!!!!

I went shooting twice! One day, by myself for almost 3hrs. Then on Sunday, my wife came with me, primarily to try out her new gun (she wanted a smaller frame gun for herself). So, this is really the first hobby I've had that doesn't involve sitting at home for years!

Yesterday, however, we had to go to the ER as my wife got hit in the head (her friend closed a SUV door on her head). No fractures, just a lot of blood and a few staples. I was there so long, I had to go back home to take my evening oxycontin then return -- sadly, I'm quite cognizant of my chemical dependency on the stuff :(

Cogito, so very sorry about your wifes injury, even thought nothing is broken she could still have some serious head wounds, keep an eye on her and I hope she's doing better soon...Prayers to you both.

I' m very very ill, but the specialists is still going to be able to see me, which is a relief, but I had to put taking the methotrexate on hold for now, fever is 100. So not high for some but it is high for me and I'm having some breathing issues. Fingers crossed.

My weekend went okay, my husband has been here visiting so that has been nice. I did not do alot, just relaxed, enjoyed my heating pad and back massager. Pain level is becoming a bit more tolerable with the full pain meds and new muscle relaxer, but I think depression is wearing me down...trying to fight that beast with so much going on is difficult.
The weekends are easier for me as I do work full time and it is hard making it through the day - I usually come home and just rest...feel so lazy.

I hope everyone makes it through the week!
