Hi everyone, I just thought I would give a quick update, as most know I was supposed to have moved down to Kentucky, well for the present time that has fallen through. I was supposedly all set up with a new pain clinic and doctor down there, just to find out that I could not continiue with my current pain management treatment, as that clinic that I was suppose to go to, does not prescribe, nor use pain medications, they are strickly injections and holistic. So I cancelled my appointment with the clinic and doctor, and am staying here in Illinois for the time being! I had talked with my landlord and they are not making me sign a lease, as long as I give them at least a months notice before I move.
In the mean time I have been having allot of problems with my lower back, walking is difficult, and I have pain in my buttocks and down the back of my legs. My pain doctor sendt me back to the neurosurgeon, whom I seen a couple of weeks ago, he ordered a new MRI and Flexion X-rays which I had done today, afterwards I went to my appointment with the neurosurgeon. Well he still says I need the Laminectomy and framinotomy and diskectomny at L3-L4-L5 on the right side, because of the severe narrowing of the foramen and bone spurs and bad disk at those areas. and he also wants to do the the same thing on the left side at L4-L5 it appears that there is a major herniation at L4-L5 and is really pressing into my spinal cord, just slightly off center to the left. He said tha is what is causing the problem with my buttocks and back of my legs, So he will be doing surgery on both sides, he said he does not plan on doing a fusion, but won't know for sure untill he gets in there. I asked him if I could put this off till after the holidays, and he is in agreement with it, as long as I get it done right after the new year! So we are going to try and get it scheduled sometime in the first or second week of January. My main reason for wanting to postpone it till then, is my daughters due date was the 11th of November, and no baby yet, she said they would induce her if he wasn't born by the 21st. So I am going to be a Grandpa again, I have one granddaughter that will be five this month and she will have a brother soon! Anyway I want to go up north and see them before I have this surgery, my daughter is a nurse at Mayo Clinic and it is close to 500 miles just getting up there. So before I get my surgery done and might be layed up a while afterwards I want to see my new grandson first!
So that is my update, hopefully this surgery will make it easier to walk, as that is my main form of exercise, and I haven't been able to do much of it the last few months.
