Black Friday?

Hi All,

I thought I would start a thread to see what (if anything) y'all bought today.

It has been a few years since I ventured out for the doorbuster deals, but miss the fun. I had a bad night last night, otherwise I would have gone somewhere for something (though I don't know what).

So, let's hear what you got today.

I'm doing the internet deals lol. Not quite as good as the doorbuster shopping but it's guaranteed, whereas if you doorbuster shop, they might be out of what you want by the time you get to it. I have my eye on a galaxy tablet, I got a best buy gift card from my dad for my birthday, think I'm gonna buy the tablet this evening, after I pick up the card from my brother's house. It's the smaller 7" version, but that's ok with me. I just want something with a bigger screen than my phone, but smaller than my monstrous 19" laptop.

Last year I had fun getting up at 4:45am to get to Kohls and Walmart at 5am for a few things that I needed. It wasn't crowded at all and was a fun little trip.

I would never go to the places that have those crazy lines with everyone pushing/shoving....Just not my thing as I don't like shopping too much to start...I like to get in and get out! LOL

Well I did not get as early as a start as I had planned but I did leave the house around six thirty. I went to allot of different stores I got a king size reversible micromink & Sherpa comforter set normally over 200 and got it for less than 65 and a single cup or travel mug coffee maker, that doesn't take pods or anything just use regular coffee. I was back home before noon, as my lower back and legs were killing me. And it was cold and windy, yesterday (Thanksgiving day) it was in the sixties, today our high was 36 degrees. This was the first time I have done this since Black Friday in 2009. It was nice getting out of the house, oh I did stop at a massage sales thing in the walk way in the mall they were demonstrating little miniture tens like units, about the size of a very small mp3 player, but with two channels  4 electrodes and six different setting types and varable intensity, anyway with the charger and all the leads and every thing it was less than 160 dollars, when I got home I looked the website up and the same units are listed for over 350. It is tempting to maybe go back Ha,  Anyway that was my adventure today on Black Friday

I used to work for Walmart and seen plenty of Black Friday from the employees point of view. It was more than enough to make me to never want to experience it as a shopper.

Left my house at 8pm Thursday night, hubby sat up chair up and I was first in line at Kohl's for midnight opening and I sat and cross-stitched until 11:22 pm, taking breaks and drinking hot coco cocoa. Got the barbie 22.99 for 8.00 and will donate that and 2 blankets 3.99 to the Shrinners for Children.
And I got clothes for my procedure/ testing on December 7.
Then got home and in bed by 1:15 with hubby's help, then on Friday went and got needlework silks threads on sale at a store closing in Richmond TX.
Today will try to prepared dough for baking chocolate chip cookies tomorrow.

I did not get bumped or hurt in any of this shopping and the folks in line were well behaved folks....

I ventured out one time years ago to shop the day after Thanksgiving and never did it again. You could not find parking places, the parking lots were like a demolition derby. Inside was even worse with a bunch of people in fowl moods,their kids were tired & hungry & screaming at the top of their lungs. Why parents drag these little guys out knowing its not for them is beyond me. I got a sitter when I went shopping or I did not go.

I would much rather sit with my list and order on the computer because I get the same deal whether I am online or in the store, so much easier. I usually get a lot things with free shipping. If I use a store pick up I go right when they open their doors during the week before it gets packed.

I'm usually on the Fibromyalgia forum, but this subject caught my eye.

Hope you don't have to pay too dearly for tripping, Judy. I'm with you - no way would I brave those crowds! The last thing I need, recovering from spinal surgery, is to be knocked over!!

Though I did go to ARC and got some Christmas cups for half price - 40 cents! :) So I got my bargain fix.

I was worried about you Whitebeard, you've had so many back and neck surgeries, I'm glad you waited until morning. As I usually stay up late due to pain, and the weather down here in Texas was nicer than up north, if I was up north no way would I go, but 60f is nice, and I have a comfy mobile chair, I just sat and stitched, Kohls has good lighting and hubby made sure no one would bump me, I use him as my body guard he's 6'2. So I was careful and got in and out and my Charity will benefit, those kids need the blankets, to total I've donated 8 blankets and 5 toys. Now everyone go and rest up. If you do these sales they can take it out of you.
And no they do not have the same things in store as on line as I did check, that is so not so, people say it but its not true you cannot get the same prices online on the same items. Kohls did not offer the same sale on their toys online as they did inthe store. Period.

I totally feel ya about the enjoying yourself doing something or just getting things done and overdoing it and then paying the price for days to come!!! oooouuch!! Rest up and enjoy what u got and hope u feel better soon. ;))
