Monday Check-In

Hello!! :))

Hope everyone has been doing well! I myself have been feeling much better since the placement of a stent in my celiac artery! :) pain scores are down from a 8-10 to a 4-6. Still have a good amount of pain but am feeling much better now.

I'm going home today after almost a month here!

It was a good weekend for me. Ever since I started the Oxycontin, I've been definitely doing better. I finished editing another chapter of my book, and on Saturday went to the pistol range (again). My poor wife has a bad cold, though, and I promised to make her some chicken soup (from scratch) today.

Don't mean to whine, but I have a lot going on, and well thats all I want to posts for now. Knee is hurting more.

Cogito-- Are You writing a book? Cool. Is a book like one that will be the bookstore? Your wife is in good hands if your making chicken soup. That has proven healing benefits in the process of cooking the chicken with the bones on it.

As for me, I have my MRI coming up on Wednesday its Monday night here now, so just a day away. Nervous and anxious about being in it for more than an hour. Other than that will be going to Fuddruckers on Thursday night to meet with some of my american friends living here.

Hello everyone, hope all is well. I am having a bad pain day and moping around feeling sorry for myself lol. I took a person's advice on here and decided to try a muscle relaxer so I'm hoping that helps a bit along with my other medication. Here in Canada we can get Robaxacet without a prescription so keep your fingers crossed that the dreaded spasms take a holiday. I plan to just drink some coffee and work on my cross stitch. Have a lovely day everyone and tell the pain monsters they are not invited into our world.

It's been a nice holiday "week" but time to get serious about getting my resume in order and looking for work! I found a place that helps you for free to write up your resume and look for jobs. It's been a long time and it's going to be difficult getting to that interview with the gaps in working...

But I just need to take things one day at a time or else I'll get overwhelmed thinking about it and how I'm going to manage physically....I've been trying to spend more time on the computer as well as running errands to push myself to get better acclimated to the increase in movement/pain.

Thankfully I have my peeps here on HW to support me:)

Hope you have a great time on your date Matt! I remember how nervous I was on my first date after my divorce (it had been almost 5 years!)...but it's like riding a bike! LOL....

Just take it easy and anyone who is worth dating you will understand about your health issues and adapt...

Lynnster...I hope that the Robaxicet works well for you and helps with the spasms...I do recommend that you may need to increase your water intake for the day as many medications, muscle relaxers included, can cause dehydration...It may also cause constipation because it can "relax" or slow down things in the intestine...So if you are just aware of these up front you can prevent any issues...

Still recovering from Thanksgiving here. I decided that if hubby has to work another holiday, that we're going to do the big meal on a day when he's home. Too much work to get everything together and asking teenagers to help, ha ha I would have been better off talking to the wall.

Well had a good appt with the rheumy last week. But I've spent from last Wednesday until today trying to get my oxycodone script filled. I usually always go to CVS. They told me last Wednesday it would be in on Friday. On Friday they told me it would be in on Monday. Today they told me there's a shortage and they don't know when they'll get it. And that there was no way when they did get it in that they'd be able to fill the whole 180 of them. Anyways I ended up getting it filled at Hannaford who told me they hadn't heard of any shortage. But that they've had a lot of customers coming to them because CVS wasn't ordering narcotics hardly at all due to fear of being robbed. We've already had 50 pharmacy robberies so far this year. It may not sound like alot but it is with our small population.

So I think at my next rheumy appointment we're going to have to discuss alternatives. I can't go through this every month.

Still waiting on the oil company to come back out. The furnace was replaced 2 weeks ago but they haven't finished putting in the new oil tank yet. So our oil is still in blue barrels out back as a temporary tank.

Not much going on this week. Have a LiHeap appointment on Thursday and had my quarterly bloodwork done today. Just going to lay low, maybe even try to get caught up on laundry.

Well my weekend was busy getting my daughter ready to return to college. Yesterday, we drove her back the traffic was terrible. We came home the long way, instead of sitting in traffic on I-95 south. It took us almost 3 hrs to go 115 miles.

Today, I had my appointment at NIH. As most of you know I have multiple health issues. I was referred to NIH, had loads of stuff done and met with the Dr. NIH is a research facility and also houses the Department of Public Health. I am still reeling with all I heard.

I apparently have MANY symptoms of a genetic mutation, and IF I do have this, there is NO treatment for it. The only thing they can try is to do a bone marrow transplant. This really puts me in a tough spot, I just got in with a Dermatologist that has experience with treating warts as bad as mine. I was suppose to go into the hospital to get the drug.

However, the Dr at NIH feels I need to wait on the drug. This drug can put me into kidney issues. Her point is if I have the genetic mutation, my only option is the transplant. She doesn't want me to take the risk on my kidneys, until we know for sure.

The kicker is this genetic mutation one of the symptoms is warts. Anyway, that's how my week had started. My pain is still at a 8 and no relief in sight till Dec 13.

No major plans for me this week. A full week of work. May take Thursday off. Been in a lot of pain since Saturday night. We had our staff Christmas party for the branches and rest of staff so all the staff from the office was busy preparing since Friday. Then, I was up on my feet all night Saturday. Think this affected my neck and pain and now causing a lot of pain.

Thanks for the well wishes. You're right I may be facing some scary things here in my future. I'm just so fed up with it all, my QOL is so bad, I just know if I were someone's pet, I'd be put down and out of my misery.

Hope your date night went well. I also hope your pain levels ate improving.
