Update and Op date

Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't been around very much in the past month or so. So much going on in my life. My in laws have finally moved in to their new home, much closer to where we stay. They seem to be very happy and that's the main thing. It's been a good move. I made two pairs of curtains which I am very proud of, but believe me when I say there was blood, sweat and tears in the making of them! I agree now it was too much but I just wanted to be able to do it for them. Pain scores increased on a daily basis. The move itself was tough, so much lifting and bending, and only my DH and me to do it. The main thing is we got it done but there followed more days in bed.

I finally got authorization for my insurance to pay for my next op. Such a relief as I will be able to have it done in the small private hospital, where I know the staff well. They are so kind and caring there. The date is 5th December, next Wednesday. I am so mixed up about it. This will be my third back op this year. With the last op having worked so well, that gives me hope that this one will too. Pain has been bad, even when I am not overdoing it. Sitting is almost impossible now. I wake up most nights in so much pain, my DH usually has to help me move. I know this op will be difficult as I will be non weight bearing on my right side. Unfortunately my left knee needs replacing and I have pretty bad pain there too. After my first op, my knee wouldn't take my weight and I ended up bedridden, then wheelchair bound for seven weeks. I just hope my knee behaves better this time, and I have an easier time.

I know I can count on my HW family to be there for me, as you were the last time. I am so grateful to you all for that. It's good to know I can come on here and know that you will all understand what I am going through. My DH is amazing but there are times when I know that it gets too much for him, and I hate to overload him with pain scores and problems!

I hope you are all doing well. The weather here is cold and wet and I don't know how it affects you all, but for me everything is worse. My back and bones hate the cold wet weather, something we have plenty of here in Scotland!!!

It's good to hear from you. You HAVE had lots going on, that's for sure!

Glad you got your in-laws situated. We had to do something similar for my MIL about a month or so ago.

Wow - your next surgery is right around the corner. Glad it's at the hospital where you know the staff, etc. Anyway, you know we are here for you..... I know your DH is amazing, but sometimes you need to be able to vent to others that aren't quite so involved -- to get an *outside* perspective. At least I do.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll chat more before the 5th.... but hoping this surgery helps you greatly....

Thanks for sharing your update and I will be praying that this surgery offers you some much needed relief! I know you are happy that it is able to be done at the hospital that you like so that is a positive!

Do you have something like The Rollator (you can Google this and see what it looks like) to help you after the surgery? I mention this item a lot because it's been so helpful to myself and my mom when we have had flare ups of my back or her knee. It is so much better than a walker as you don't have to pick it up and move it each step.

It also has a seat and brakes so that you can stop and sit down when needing to rest. I was wondering if there is something similar to this anywhere in Scotland that you can buy. You may already have something like this but when you mentioned your husband helping you...this is an item that is so much safer when you get to the point of recovery that you need to walk a bit each day.

You know you can always come here to vent and find others who know what it's like to have so many health issues. I wish I could send you some of our sunshine as it's been literally drought conditions here lately!...
