I have had minor fibro for years – last July it went full force. We live in the cold and wet Washington State and this is my first winter with severe fibro.

When I go out the cold makes me almost crippled and my pain is about a 10 even in a warm house. I know arthritis is much better in warm dry climates but how is it with fibro.

Anyone moved to Arizona ???

I feel better since im in sunny Fl. I got off all my narcotics since Im down here compared to being in the cold in Pennsylvania. I couldnt handle the weather up there.

I have fibro plus a chronic leg issue.

I also moved from Ky to Florida. I couldnt take the cold any longer either. I dont have fibro just alot of arthritis.I couldn have made a better move for my health.

The med thing here is a h/a but I wouldnt go back for nothing, I wouldnt even go home for Xmas with my kids since they were in the middle of a snow storm warning. Spent the holidays sitting on the patio beachside at a sunny 81 degrees.

I live in western SC, halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte, what ails me has no effect on the weather fortunately. I prefer the cold to the hot, very sensitive to heat and direct sunlight.

I live on the west coast of Florida and even though cold weather can make me a bit 'achier', the hot/humid summers make me miserable and my pain issues worse. I just can't handle the heat anymore (and the humidity is absolutely smothering!). I feel better and more 'alive' during our 2-week winter than I do the entire rest of the year! Oh well, I'm stuck with FL for the foreseeable future - I just try and make the best of it day by day!

As for your question - I do know people who have moved to Arizona (and New Mexico) and the dry heat did wonders for their arthritis issues. I think (not sure) that one of them has fibro and I know that she is doing terrific - she said that she wished she had moved to NM years ago! My sister lives in WA (outside Bellingham) and even though she adores it out there, I know that the cold/wet weather tends to make her pain issues worse. I hope you find a way to feel better soon!

Ok, I just talked to my friend in Gallup. I am SO glad that she's still a 'night-owl' - didn't even look at the time (it's 3am there - oops!). Anyway, she does have fibro and yes, she DOES feel better since moving there from Michigan. Of course she still hurts, but she said that she has more 'good' days than before. Now, she is also in an over-all better situation - better job, less stress, and less drama than before her move. But she really believes that the climate has helped to improve her health. Ok, I'm gonna try to sleep now......

Your right about the humidity in summer! I live in Palm coast about 45 miles down the coast from St Augistine but a world difference they tell me humidity wise.

I have a friend in Jacksonville and she says they get more winter like weather then we do and its not so horribly hot in July and August like it is here. There were days I didnt go out in summer as the heat was overwhelming but still better weather for me then central Ky was

I have actually thought about moving up the coast to St Aug or Jacksonville next year, havent done so as of yet since I have a daughter in high school and you know how that would go over moving a teenager.

When I became sick in 2005 I was living in North Miami Beach on the intercoastal waterway from 1967-2007 then I moved to the North Carolina Raleigh-Durham area. I felt that the weather in Florida was creating a problem with my breathing. And the constant 90% to 100% humidity was killing me. During the summers just going outside for 5-minutes and you would come back drenched because of the humidity. After moving to NC I felt my breathing was much better due to the low humidity and colder weather. When I moved I looked into the medical care that was offered in NC. I was having problems in Fl that they couldn't deal with and the doctors in NC were ready to help and they did....Randy
