cervical esi update

So my cervical esi went very well on Friday and I am already feeling relief, my shoulder and arm pain is.virtually gone and I can turn my head with limited pain...however the true test will be sitting at my desk at work tomorrow...the twilight sedation was perfect, I remember everything even though they said I may not, and the procedure felt like 5 minutes instead of the 30 minutes it actually took. And I didn't need help to use the bathroom so ya, I think my friends doc must have.done something wrong to her. Hope everyone.had a good weekend

That's so great that things went well for you. I hope you continue to have only a small amount of pain. Keep us posted on how tomorrow went.

Thats great news Sore! So glad you are getting relief allready. I hope tomorrow goes well for you.

It is really amazing the differences between drs procedures. I have all of my injections done in the office with flouroscopy. No meds at all, in and out within 15 minutes. I drive myself as well. He tried a caudal injection a few years ago but it was to painfull due to all of my scar tissue, he needed to stop. He said if we did it again he would do it as an outpatient with sedation.

Those are the kind of results we like to hear. Far too many times sadly the procedures many have are not as successful. Its very encouraging for many.

I have had numerous blocks and injections and some work great and some dont work at all and the amount of relief and time it last always varies. I dont have a clue why the results are always so iffy but when I get a good one I know I am overjoyed and you must be too!!

To get even the slightest relief for us is a holiday.

Congrats and I hope it lasts a very very long time.

Shell74 - That is so true - I have had the lumbar esi's before many times always without any sedation - unless you count a nurse giving you a shoulder massage during the procedure? My new doc always does twilight for his procedures - they explained that it is to help the patient relax more and therefore reduce any risk of sudden movements, etc. that could complicate the procedure. My friend, who was unable to use the bathroom on her own for several days after her cervical esi a few months ago because she couldnt move her head or arms, was put completely under for hers. She had me freaking out about getting the cervical one - this was my first one - and the wonderful people here on HW really helped calm my nerves. So for that THANK YOU!

I will keep you all updated on how I feel at the end of my work day today...
