Going to be able to tell Medicaid bye bye within a month.

As you may recall my wife has been going to school to get her degree in nursing. Well she graduated on Dec 15, 2012 and passed her licensing exam in January. Today she was hired on as a Cardiac Care nurse at a large hospital about 45 miles away and starts Monday. Within 3 weeks of starting she gets full family insurance (health, dental and eye care) and according to some people she knows who works there it is top notch.

That is wonderful news Jim. Something to really be proud of. I hope the new job works out well for her.

Thats awesome jim! I know the burden that's lifted when you finally find a good job. I wish your wife success in her new career, and hope that you and your wife will be able to enjoy it for many years.

That's awesome! Its so great to have good news around here. I'm sure its such a relief for you to be able to retire the medicaid!

And the added income etc will be nice too right? :)

I wish her all the success in her new career and I'll be looking forward to hearing about all the fancy care you'll be getting :p

Jim that is excellent new! It is a really tough job, and I sure hope she gets an excellent mentor for at least those first few month that she is there! Tell your wife she has allot of your friends here on this forum supporting her! And we all wish her well, I am sure she will be an outstanding nurse! We definitely need them! I just heard on the news that in Illinois, that of all the jobs needed in Illinois, the biggest shortage was in Nursing! They are over 7 thousand short, and nobody is there to fill the positions! Sounds like this is going to be a really good thing for your family and the everyone else too! I wish you and your family well, and definitely Good Luck to your wife, the first few months (actually a bit longer,) in nursing are definitely the hardest and most trying, so please tell her not to dispair! I am sure she will do fine!

Splashdancer you called that one right. I think all politicians should be put on it as their health benefits while serving in office. If they were they would not be so quick to make the cuts they do.

The hospital my wife will be working at was her first choice. Several of her classmates who graduated in previous semesters work there and have had nothing but good to say about everything from the benefits to the training and mentoring program for new hires and new grads to how supportive 95% of the nursing staff is. The 5% who have bad attitudes don't last long from what she was told.

She has 5 days of general orientation and then a month of department specific orientation/training with an experienced nurse before being turned loose on her own. Even after that has happened she has been told by every nurse on that floor she has met so far as well as that departments DON to call for help at anytime.

Thank you all for your well wishes. I have no doubts she will do very well. She got extremely high marks in all of her clinicals during school because of her skills, willingness to learn and help and last but not least doing everything on a patient first basis and how she dealt with those under her care.
