warning about the DEA

Welcome to the CP forum Luv. Those of us that have been on pain meds for legitimate purposes certainly have seen many of those changes.

We have contracts and we don't risk losing our pain management for we are the ones that seem to have problems getting the meds we need and those who don't rarely have difficulty.

As for suboxone for addiction issues I have always believed those issues should be handled via a dispensing addiction clinic and not thru giving out prescriptions. It takes far more then taking a pill or dissolving a strip in your mouth to beat addiction. They are not getting any counseling or support this way.

Here in Florida those little strips are worth as much as anything else on the street and just as easy to find. And they are abused as well.

They don't hand scripts for methadone to addicts and Drs who use it to treat pain are required to be pain management so why do they allow suboxone to be scripted for outpatient addiction?

It rankles us as pain patients to be treated as nothing but an addict and we have to go thru so much to get the meds that allow us to have some semblance of a life.

I certainly understand the need to take control living in Florida I've seen things unbelievable. Drs working out of motel rooms,seeing Pts all hours of the night so they don't get caught. Taking those people's money for scripts they know they can't fill and charging close to $1000 a pop.

Until they get better and more acceptable treatment for the addicted who are paying those street prices then the dealers are going to continue robbing and whatever other means they can to get them this nonsense of making the real patients jump thru the hoops with them will continue.

Im glad your doing OK without the use of meds but don't allow yourself to suffer do to the stigma associated with using opiates.

We all use many different things along with our meds to bring about relief and the longer you can go without starting opiate treatment the better you are. If the steroids don't work you still have the meds like neurontin and lyrica and many here have great success on them alone or in conjunction worth other things.

I also live in Louisiana. And I use the Louisiana Revised Statutes, Louisiana Administrative Code and the Louisiana State Medical Board when I need to know what the actual Laws and Regulations are.
DEA is Federal, but when compared to State Laws, it is the Law that is the "most stringent" that applies. For example in New York, Hydrocodone is a Schedule II already. http://www.medpagetoday.com/PublicHealthPolicy/PublicHealth/33216

The first post here is 3/28/2013. Things are much worse now when the FDA and DEA deny all accusations of limitation and intimidation. I live in a rural town with only two doctors. One is a lay her hands on you let Jesus heal you. Mine is the other. he is new and just relocated here. He has already cut my meds buy more than half without care to withdrawals I had to suffer. By the way, I'm in Texas. Here is what I deal with on two 7.5 Norcos and three 50mg Tramadol a day.

6 reonstructive surgeries to right foot that never stops hurting. 2 cervical fusions with hardware. Cervical stenosis. 1 Thoracic laminectomy to try and releive stenosis(did'nt work). 1 horribly failing Lumbar fusion with hardware. Moderate to severe spinal stenosis throughout my spine. Sclerosis of the spine. Degenerative disk and joint disease. Both hips have been harvested for fusion leaving large painful knots on each. 3 hernia repairs with patches.Frequently the scar tissue tears and it's a "knock you to the floor pain." I am wrought with pain all day, every day and night and severely under-medicated. And what makes it worse...I know my doctor is lying to me. I just finished Chemo for Leukemia and am waiting to start treatment for the Hep-C virus I never knew I had, how I got it or for how long I've had it. I'm 60 years old and have no noticeable quality of life.
