Vacation Refills

Hello all! I hope you are doing well. I was just wondering how I go about getting my meds during vacation. My monthly follow up appt with my PM doc will fall on the weds after I leave for my 3 wk summer vacation. I have talked to my doc and she said I could come a week early to get my scripts and she would write can refill early for vacation. My question is will the pharmacy do this and will my insurance do this? One of the meds is a schedule 2 and the other a schedule 3. The pharmacies make it hard to get your pain meds on regular on time refills so how in the heck will they let me fill early? I know this has happened to others as people in PM go on vacation and must need meds early. How do I go about this? Any recommendations? I have heard of a vacation override but have never done it. I am not sure this override would work for schedule 2 med. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the physician okays an early fill for a vacation, the pharmacist can call for an override for vacation however that only works once a year, with most insurances anyway.

If the Dr writes the script they will usually fill it. However you will probably have to call your insurance and explain the situation. They will generally work with you on a once a year basis.
