im havin surgery tomorrow and im afraid im not goin to get the relief i need help?!

Sorry to hear that you are having to do another surgery...May I ask what they are doing this time around if they have gone in 5 times?

Hopefully it's just a laparoscopic surgery that you will be home by the afternoon!

I'm not sure if you are on any other pain meds at the moment that you take regularly, but for most surgeries, they should be at least giving you some Norco/Vicodin/Lortab (Hydrocodone products) or Percocet (Oxycodone) for at least a week or so afterwards to help with any pain.

This is what I have gotten for most all day surgeries. And with the laparoscopic ones, it is the trapped air that ends up causing the most pain so I take lots of Phazyme and try to walk around the house.

Since the surgery is tomorrow, I would see if you can speak with the surgeon before the surgery and express to them that you are worried about post-op care.

You mention that they called a PM DR...do you mean to handle your chronic pain from here on out? If so, that is a good thing as that Dr. is the one who is trained in pain management.

Surgeons or other Drs. are really there to handle what is right in front of them and then send you on your way...not to die though!!!! So don't worry about that;).....

I just hope that this surgery is going to accomplish something for you since you have had so many before of the same kind and that is likely to cause adhesions to develop which is not a good thing.

I was diagnosed with Endometriosis as well as I would have numerous ovarian cysts rupture every single month and cause extreme pain. I ended up having 3 or 4...can't even remember now, lap surgeries to remove the remaining cysts and try to "clean" things up. But I finally found a great OB/GYN where we both agreed to not do anymore surgery as it was only making the adhesions worse.

Anyway...don't know enough about your specific history but hope that this surgery will provide you with a great outcome!

Good luck on your surgery, hope it improves things for you. I am dealing with a different kind of bladder problem, mine was destroyed by 39 fautly radiation treatments nearly 4 years ago, ended up having my bladder bypassed with a Urostomy.  I have constant bladder spasms despite a non-functioning bladder.  They are contemplating removing my bladder entirely, but with the radiation damage, its a very long, complex, and risky surgery.

Please don't give up hope, perhaps things will start to get better for you, that's a lot to go through.

Ic, I've experienced some of what you are going through. All I can tell you is what I have learned. I no longer agree to any surgery until a PM plan is in place. I too have left in terrible pain and I refuse to do it anymore. As it sounds like your is an outpatient procedure, do not leave if your pain is not managed. If he gives you the meds you know will help and are OK to go home then OK. But if you are in too much pain while in recovery then I would not leave until I knew my pain was going to be controlled. It's not easy but we have to speak up for our rights.
