I posted previously my experiences with RFA at https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=16&m=2736469
RFA wasn't awful as I feared, but I cracked a 1st upper molar from clenching my teeth. It may have been previously cracked because my dentist said my bite was off, possibly from pressure from my chronic infected maxillary sinus. The back nerve procedures were fine, but the day after jaw pain was something else.
My dentist got me a next day appointment with an endodontist who ground down the old filling and saw 2 cracks and a little infection. Even with about 20 local anesthetic injections all around the tooth and into the hard palate I had some rather loud ouches when he hit 2 live nerves in the roots. He did about 1/2 a root canal, packed what was left of the tooth and sent me home to see what would happen over a couple of weeks.
If it gets better he'll finish the root canal. If not I have to see an oral surgeon for extraction because the roots are pushing up the floor of the very thin floor of the maxillary sinus.
The tooth is still tender to a slight touch. No hard food for me and no eating on that side!
Now I'm dreading having more work done on the tooth.
