I believe some of you folks have diagnoses for sacrum/coccyx issues. I'm once again dealing with a lot of pain in sac/tailbone.
I've got herniated L4/5 with lots of sciatica pain in my feet and ankles. Also get the pain going from the butt to the foot, but that's not as bad as the feet and ankles pain. My back pain has been quite bad for quite some time and with the sac/coccyx pain, it's really getting to be too much. (I know most of you folks are dealing with a lot more than I- so I don't want to whine !)
I'm wondering if the better way to diagnose sac/TB issues is with x-ray or MRI.
I recently lost my job and with it my med. insurance. I got a "doctor" to write a script for me to get another lumbosacral MRI, which I'm getting tomorrow. I asked him to write one so that I could also get one for lower down the spine/coccyx, but for some reason he didn't want to do that. Don't know why as I'm paying for this out of my pocket. If I'm not mistaken, a lumbosacral MRI will go as far as S1 ? Or does it go further ?
I may have to dish out more money to go to another doctor who might be willing to script me for either a sac/TB x-ray or MRI.
Not really sure why I even want a diagosis, as it seems that even with an accurate diag. (which I know can take a long time to get), there really doesn't seem to be much in the way of successful treatment options for back injuries/chronic pain.
Modern medicine ISN'T, in a lot of ways. AND I know that w/o ins. I really can't afford treatment, but I still want to know why I'm in so much pain.
So any suggestions ? Should I try to get a sac/TB MRI or x-ray ?
Any input would be appreciated.
Oh yeah, a side note - when I got MRIs with insurance, the facilities charged from $1400 to $1800. Of course the insurance disallowed a lot of that charge.
W/O insurance, lumbosacral MRI = $200 to $500 !!!!! The system is definitely screwed up.
