Chronic pain in lumbar region

Hello AS & welcome to the chronic pain forum. Sorry to hear that you are suffering so bad. You say that you have been to many drs & chiros to no avail. What kind of tests has the drs ran on you, such as MRI, CtScan or myelogram? If you have had any of these tests do you know what the results were? What type of medications have you tried? Have you tried any of the meds used to treat like a pinched nerve such as Gabapentin, Lyrica or any of those? You are pretty vague in your post that is why I am asking these questions. Of course, none of us are drs here, we just speak from our own personal experiences.

One thing I will say is never give up.There has to be a dr that can help you. Have you ever thought about going to a teaching hospital for a consult? A lot of times people end up going to one when everyone else bombs out on finding what the problem is all about.This may be something for you to consider.

Anyway,I wanted to pop on & ask a few questions & tell you welcome aboard. Also, this forum has rules set out by the owner/administrator. We ask everyone to check out the rules & honor them. It just helps if we are all rowing the boat in the same direction.

Hi there, and again a warm welcome to HW. And as Vickie said, can we relate...definitely. Getting help can be a very long and winding road. I live in the UK, I was told by an NHS surgeon that there was nothing they could do, it was just a case of pain management. Eventually decided to go privately, I had a non existent disc, it was bone on bone. Only answer was spinal fusion, and the op was successful. If I had listened to that NHS doctor I reckon I would have been spending half my life in bed, as my back used to lock on a regular basis. And when that happened, I couldn't move, all I could do was lie in bed until it released.

We were lucky that I was able to have private treatment as getting other opinions on the NHS is difficult. I know in the US it's easier to access different doctors. As Susie and Vickie have advised, do a good search, ask around and try to find the right doctor. Don't give up, it definitely sounds like you have some sort of nerve impingement and finding the cause is the priority

Hi Kelly Welcome to our chronic pain forum. We have so many caring and knowledgeable people here. I'm sorry you're having so much pain. I have back problems as well. I hope you can find a doctor that will help you really soon. Please do give more details, so we can advise you better. Take care
