As some of you know I have been having acid reflux issues and had a upper scope which showed my hiatal hernia and they put a camera in.  Finally got the results back as normal.  Now this I find hard to believe because I had indigestion the whole time and like to have worn the button out on the camera.

I have had a bad attack the last 48 hours.  Severe epigastric pain and belching.  Nothing relieves it.  Got scared t was my heart because I had acute weakness, nausea and vomiting with this one.  Saw my gp and he did cardiac blood work and Ekg, everything normal Thank God.  Stil horrible today,  went to ER, cardiac workup  again, all normal.  Got a wonderful GI cocktail that gave me some relief then protonix in IV with some nausea meds and I feel so much better today.

Talked with my gastro Drs nurse today.  I told her we have to find out what is causing this

I am to be scheduled for a barium swallow and see what that shows. I also want to discuss the sjorgrens with the Dr. to see if it could be a part of this.

I had a bone denisity scan last week. My bones have gone to pot in three years. I now have osteoporis. The Dr is getting authorization from my ins to start me on prolia for this. I am down to 5mg a day on my predisone and am more determined than ever now to get completely off of it. I need to let my gastro Dr. know about the osteoporis cause I understand the Gerd meds can effect that also.

The good news is that my back and neck is under control at the moment and I am sleeping better. I still have issues with both hips. I hope everyone eles has a good week.

Hi bluejeans has any of your doctors mentioned the prednisone as being a possible cause of your indigestion? Just a thought? Also have you tried any of the antacids? I have problems with GERD my doctor put me on Prilosec one a day in the morning, but I also take Gaviscon I chew a couple of them when I feel uncomfortable and it helps immediately! I have used them for years and years and was first told about them from a doctor while I was in the military. I do hope you can find some relief soon!

Gerd is acid reflux disease. Something like gastric esophagus reflux disease, I think.

I am up to 2 aciphex a day and sometimes drink gaviscon and eat Tums. I do now know tho not to take the gaviscon or tums less than two hours after the aciphex or it kills its effects. (no one ever told me that).

I watch my diet close but something has it really stirred up.

I have been on various medication for gerd and get the best results with an older medication called protonics it is a PPI medication has to be taken on an empty stomach so I take it early mornings and then I take Licorice Root a supplement in the evenings, and they both give me good relief, many well wishes...

OH, would have never guessed that one. One issue I never have problems with, doubt I have had even a single tums or antacid in the past 10 years. Lucky on that one, would imagine it could be miserable to deal with all the time.

When my doctor RX'd my prednisone, they knew that it affected my stomach and caused gastric issues. So they also RX'd protonix right along with it and it really helps to keep the gastric issues to a minimum.

I am on aciphex at home, but they put protonix in my Iv and it worked. I think I am going to ask to be switched to that. I am also going to ask about my sjorgrens contributing to the stomach problems.

I saw a cardiologist Thurs.  He says even tho my EKG and blood work in fine, my synptoms can be GERD or cardiac.   I am scheduled for a tread mill tomorrow, barium swallow for GI Dr. Wed and a Eckocardiogram next week.  zi am just ready for them to find out whats going on.

The epigastric pain, nausea,  and belching is horrible and nothing works.  Something has got to give.
