I am 37 and I have a frozen shoulder since August 2012.It all started with a morning stretch in my bed and a painful pull in my left bicep tendon. I was already visiting PT for my shoulder blades and lower back pain (general- nothing serious). So my PT started some exercises that would strengthen my shoulder .
The pain got worse, to a point that if I tried slide my arm in to a close neck tee/top the pain would make me blank out. This went on for a couple of months (Oct 2012).
One morning my left collar bone felt inflamed and painful, such, that I could not breath. I rushed to an Orthopedic Surgeon. He diagnosed I had shoulder inflammation n Rxed Diclofenac Sodium for a month. I took it for a week and felt better.Stopped taking medicines and PT completely.I got better (my feeling, as I could wear my tees and tops without pain).
My shoulder pain came back full force towards the end Feb 2013 (after my miscarriage).I had elevated TSH (6.5). I could not move my shoulder above my waist. It was hurting, inflamed and what not. went to the Orthopedic and he diagnosed Adhesive Capsulitis (Frozen Shoulder). I was thinking to myself.'what? No way.,I'm just 37. My mom had it when she was 52 and my grand mom had it when she was 58.Oh well!I was back to PT and Diclofenac Sodium (Yes,he loves to prescribe this one).
PT was getting my range of motion better. But the pain and inflammation was not going. This was my Freezing Phase. I used to get this excruciating deep pain in my biceps. A feeling that something was torn inside. And a dull pain thru my arm almost 24/7. I could strap my bra though.I was very depressed and could not think of anything but my shoulder pain. After a month I went for my follow-up visit with the April 2013 and he thought that my range of motion was improving and I shld continue PT for another 12 sessions. I had mixed feelings by end of 12 sessions. Orthopedic prescribed MRI just in case.
Getting an MRI apt and all that jazz took a couple of weeks. This time I was off PT and NSAIDs. Finally I got an MRI done and thankfully it showed no torn or damaged stuff… But the Dr prescribed another 1 month of Diclo (told ya). This surely upsets my tummy but my inflammation started to fade away after a week. No range of motion and reaching behind was 0% and painful..but better sleep at night and dull pain thru the day vanished.
I was off PT for a month and have started PT again.
I am not sure but I feel that taking a higher dosage of Levothyroxin (50) caused me muscle weakness and twinging in my shoulder. Since last August is when I started my thyroid medications and that's when I first felt the sharp twinge in my biceps.
Had anyone else taking synthroid experienced this?
I am in the frozen phase and any stretching beyond a certain range gives me excruciating pain. Trying to hang in there..but at times its very unnerving and I am not in for MUA or Surgery...Sigh!
