Hi folks,
Just wondering if anyone here has tried this med - especially for sleep purposes. It's an antidepressant, but acts mainly on melatonin receptors - and I think only one specific serotonin one. From what I've read and been told (I've only heard about it from a friend who's had it suggested to her by her GP...) it can be particularly helpful with major circadian rhythm disorders, which we think forms part of my problem. My sleep issues are now getting quite dangerous - I can't sleep, I haven't slept at night (I do need to improve my sleep hygiene... it's 3am and I'm using the computer, which I know is a huge no-no) since the last time I was in hospital and bombed out on meds early in the year, and my day time sleep is sometimes as little as a couple of 20 minute naps. Means lots of what I think are microsleeps, and I've forgotten now the number of times I've poured a hot drink over myself, or worse, fallen off a chair (this stuff works -really- well with my OH...) - and I realised just how bad things have become when falling on my dog last week was the only thing stopping me falling against the hot fireplace.
I'm seeing my GP on Tuesday - I want to ask him about the possibility of seeing a sleep specialist if we have one anywhere near us, but also want to ask him about this med. He's a great doctor who's always open to discussions about my meds and always interested to know what feedback I have from others - so if anyone HAS any feedback it would be good to know it.
