Hi, I have an old EMSI-2001, but have been researching more up-to-date models.
There are quite a few out there. But, you want to find one that has at least 80mA current, ideally more like 100mA.
Here are a few of my finalists (yet to figure out which is best, or what the difference is between the first three):
Tens 7000
Tens 7500
Twin Stim 2nd Edition
Intensity 10
Ultima 20
(check Currentsolutionsnow.com, lgmedicalsupply.com -- not sure about good sites in the U.K.)
You can get a good unit for around $40 and might want to get some good rechargables (compare using mAh -- for a 9v, shoot for at least 500 mAh)
As for tens pads, I've tried a few brands and the ones I think are the best for the money are Santa Medical Self-Adhering electrodes (at Amazon, 40 pads for about $25). Each set may last for up to a week if you're careful. Beyond that, the stickiness breaks down too much.
