Where abouts in NH? Do you have any good leads for doctors to set up consultations with? I'm starting from scratch and don't know a soul. The closest I get is my shoulder doc says, "Well, you could try Dartmouth Teaching College...."

I prefer word of mouth when it comes to finding experienced doctors with satisfied patients.....NH's a big place, I know, but gotta start somewhere.

At the most I've got outside of 6-8 weeks to be fully moved out of here at our home in MA and fully moved and transferred to ALL my new physicians up in NH.

I'm like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off....except I don't want to be like MIKE THE HEADLESS CHICKEN, aka: "Miracle Mike."

Wish I could drop a few names for you, but it's been too many years since we moved south to SC.

NH is a big state?  Assume you said that in jest.  I believe its the 3nd or 4th smallest state, with a population of a little over a million people

The first time we lived in NH, we lived in Wolfeboro Falls and then later, Nashua.

The second time, and it was for 4 plus years, we lived in Wolfeboro, then Tamworth - just south of the North Conway area in the White Mountains.

Do you currently live in NH? And if so, where?

"Live Free or Die", will never forget their state motto.

Still miss it dearly after all these years.

Sookie, do not get discouraged if this meetup does not get off the ground very fast. In the past when members have met each other they had been friends for quite some time here at the forum and then built a friendship offline as well. Since you & Josh are both new you probably just need to give this some time but do not get discouraged if a lot of people do not commit.

Some folks have kids and have school clothes to start buying, some are just strapped for money or physically not up to traveling any distance.

We used to live in Nashua (and I commuted to work in Lexington, MA). Yep, I know North Conway. I love Franconia Notch. I've climbed a few of the Presidentials, (one in particular a few times,....Washington). I remember one beautiful swimming basin in particular.

When I referred to NH as "large" I mean,...if I move to Pittsburg but the known docs are in Nashua, well,... That's all. Didn't want to be presumptuous.

Kind of like, "Hey, I know someone in SC, maybe you know him?" That type of thing... :)

Hopefully we meet some time in the future...

I get you on the "big" part, Sookie. If you knew me better, I have an annoying habit of taking most things very literally, even when not intended by the other person. Just my nature, its why I often don't get common jokes, lol.

I didn't like living in Nashua, 25 to 30 years ago, it was a dirty city. However, we loved living in both Tamworth and Wolfeboro. If I were rich, I would have a summer place there.

I understand that the "Old Man of the Mountains" profile no longer exists, that it fell apart? I climbed Mt. Lafayette, right across the parking lot from the "Old Man". Looking back, can't believe I was ever young and healthy enough to do such things.

Ahh, 'tis true. The Old Man's profile fell apart. I started going up there as a kid, walk the Bridal Path.

I hear ya. I went from being a clutzy, unathletic child, into a strong, athletic adult, and now splat, back to clutzy and pudge. It was a good run though.

I think, for me anyway, it makes it a harder pill to swallow losing my physical strength and ability. My identity was so wrapped up in that. You know the saying, "tomorrow never comes?" I believed it. Well, it came....all my tomorrows are now todays. When you're young, you think you beat the odds, (and we often do), and that our run will be ongoing.

Pushaw.

Would love to meet up, but sadly probably not something I'm going to be able to do until spring. Trying to get the kids ready to start school here and new sneakers and clothes took a hit on the checkbook. And just found out yesterday that my oldest needs a specific calculator for pre-cal that costs a fortune. And our youngest starts back into speech therapy in a couple a weeks.

Anyway still seems weird to go to No Conway and not see the old man on the mountain.

We go to NH often. Have to make that stop to Zeb's in No Conway. Love that store. lol

I understand. On a fitness forum I've Moderated, we spoke sometimes for a few years before meeting in person, so I do get it.

Glad I found this forum, big time. And I'm sure eventually when online relationships are built, we can take it from there. Plus, hey, we're moving out, TODAY actually, picking up UHaul in an hour, and moving to NH from MA, so yeah, gotcha on the pinch in the checkbook and time management, plus, all this doesn't make all my "artificial parts" feel too happy. Heck, just a short drive and my body starts to reject itself.
