Hi Marcee. Drs dont like "stockpiles " and expect you to take what you have ordered or tell them you dont need that many. Its not a matter of how your supposed to take them its more the fact he needs to know.
Im going to give you an example that can say it better then me. My best friend had stomach cancer and at this point nothing else could be done so medication was plentiful of course. She however fought bravely to stay awake as much as possible so didnt take anywheres near what she was ordered. She had to stay at the hospital a couple days for some tests and the 1st night there she slipped into a coma? She was sick yea but not to this place yet.
We were all stunned! Just so happens her daughter and I were talking to the nurse and were frantically trying to figure out what went wrong so fast. She was fine that morning! I asked if they had added a new med, changed anything? The nurse got the chart read off meds, every thing she took at home, except? She didnt take half of everything she could. She didnt tell them, they were of course giving it as ordered and it was far more then she was accomadated to!
The nurse ran and called the Dr,came back and gave her narcan and 20 minutes later she got up and walked to the bathroom, was as normal as she was that morning other then pain and w/d.
She left the hospital 2 days later to live another 22 months. They almost killed her by unknowingly overdosing her. Its vitality important to let the Dr know as close as possible what you actually take.
Not talking having 1 or 2 or even 10 pills left but anything more and your monthly amount should be adjusted.
