Generic Ms contin

I happened to use a different pharmacy for my last script of morphine and rather than being ms contin it was just morphine sulphate and it was lighter color blue tablets and slightly larger than ms contin.

I am finding a big difference between the two and this generic one is not good. Its not covering my pain like the other one but yet it says its 15mg!! have any of you had this experience?

With generics the dosage isn't as exact as with brands. For example, there may be 12 mg of morphine in the ms contin you just got compared to 17 mgs in the other generic. I don't remember the least to the greatest percentages the generics can have in them. But, I'm sure someone else here does.

Yes, there's a margin of error, or acceptability as M&G mentioned. Likewise I don't recall it. Hubby looked it up for me when I had the complaint, and both my doctor and pharmacist insisted that they would be identical. But "I" knew that they weren't.

They only have to guarantee a particular percentage of the active medication in their formula.
