Hi everyone I now have my Fentanyl patch on, and waiting for it to get into my system.
I had called yesterday to see if my doctor had written the script
, and sent it off. The receptionist said that she had done it, and it was probably sent off in yesterday's mail. So I called the pharmacy this afternoon, and they had received it, and it was ready to be picked up.
I am really glad to have the patch on now, but I'm still mad about
this happening for the thousandth time it seems. I still plan to call and make an appointment next month when it gets close to being time for the refill.
I hope everyone is having a low pain evening.
love and hugs

Loretta I dont call waiting a darn week almost to get my meds good! Im relieved you got them and hope you will be feeling better very soon but you call them back tomorrow and make that appointment! If you wait they may not be able to get you in there on time and you'll need to setup your transportation wont you? You dont want anything to go wrong next month to.
Glad your better but still is ridiculous this happened again

Vickie/nvrthesame98, I think Loretta did call last week for her script
s, in another posts she said that. Maybe you missed it or forgot, (just letting you know and not trying to be mean in any way).
Loretta, so glad you got your medication patch, but make sure your doctor knows that this has happen twice to you now. That you wish to be seen every month to prevent this from happening in the future.
You had me so worried! Prayers and well wishes...
Make sure to write this down so you can remember to talk about
it with your doctor or print up your posts from here...

I'm with Vickie on this one...I would call tomorrow...and set up the appointment then for next month. It's probably better to do it in advance anyway so you can pick your own time slot vs waiting till a few days prior and then having to settle for what's available. With the way this drs office seems to handle things...erring on the side of caution is probably the best most stress free option!
I really hope they can get their crap together so you don't have to go through this again...it's awful...

I'm w/ Vickie and LexiRae, Loretta.... you really need to call THIS week and make your appointment for at least 2 or 3 days before your meds run out (like Day 27 or Day 28).... That way - you can see the doctor and walk out of there w/ the script
in hand. I'm afraid if you wait until later in the month to book the appt - something will go wrong, you won't get in to see her - and you'll just be in the same position again.
Call and make the appt. Like Vickie said, you need time to arrange transportation, don't you?
And, from there, I would just plan to see your doctor every 4 weeks. Much, much easier than taking the chance of being w/out your meds....
I just really encourage you to be assertive and advocate for yourself. I wouldn't accept any reason why you can't see the doctor every month.
Take care, Tina

Medicaid must provide transportation to medical care, it is a Mandatory Benefit. Most states have rules on how much ahead of time you need to let them know. If you're a member of a health plan, they usually have specific numbers for their medicaid member to call.

Char your reading into this all wrong. No one's faulting her for calling about
her meds we have now seen this happen to her 3 times in 6 months, that means the only time she's getting them on time is when she goes in to the office!
Which she said she's going to do next month but she said she's waiting until a few days before she's out of meds and calling for an appointment and we are all saying call now to make sure she gets in since it will be a week or so away from Thanksgiving and we know she has to call ahead for her to book transportation!
Your getting this all wrong and everyone who responded to this threads concerned because its becoming a common occurrence that's extremely hard on her.

We have been encouraging Loretta to schedule a monthly appt for quite a while now so she can get her script
s in hand rather than relying on this dr to mail them at her convenience. This is not good pain mgt when a dr lets her patient go three weeks without her meds.
Chart you are reading these posts wrong, no one is talking about
her calling in her script
s,we are talking about
calling & scheduling an appt to see the dr so she can get her script
s when they are due next month!!!!!!
Chart please fix your stop that you have in caps we do not need to be yelled at!!!

Support doesn't mean standing by quietly... It's also about
encouraging someone to do the "right" thing to make things better for themselves in the long run! We understand Loretta's situation quite well. That's why we are pushing her to get in monthly to avoid this situation.
And I agree, Susie.... We certainly don't need to be yelled at!

Most states have a limited number of office visits/outpatient visits a medicaid patient can have in a calendar yr. If they are exceeded, the dr must write a letter stating that the office visit is Medically Necessary along with other info "before" the patient is seen and it must be approved for the dr to be paid.
That "may" be the reason for the dr not wanting you to come in every month.

Mercy I haven't asked to come in monthly yet.
I can't call now to get an appointment, but you're all right that said I should call now. I will be doing that tomorrow. I have to call 48 hours before my appointment to schedule a pickup for the appointment.
Thank you all that supported me through this. It's a blessing that I have a place to come and get support from so many that know what it's like to go through chronic pain daily.
I hope you're all having a low pain evening. It's raining here, and my pain is terrible, but it's only supposed to last for 3-4 hours.
love and hugs
Loretta
