I saw my pcp this past Friday for my checkup for diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. I got my Fentanyl patch and oxycodone scripts in my hot little hands, so I know nothing is standing between me and my patches this month. I told her I needed refills for them, and she said didn't I just do them? I'm thinking no. She went ahead and printed them off. So, thank God, I won't have any withdrawls to go through.

Happy to hear this, Loretta - and I would encourage you to get in there every month - so you never have a problem again! It even concerns me to hear that she said "Didn't I just do them?"...... ???

Anyway - just glad you got them!

Im like Tina! Go every month and I know its annoying to have to do that but sounds like your Drs busy and tends to forget? You dont need that, its hard on you Loretta! One of the biggest problems of withdrawal is your blood pressure and if you already have problems that could lead easily to a stroke or seizure!

So to be sure every month she'll have to deal with seeing you! If she ever asks why your coming every month be sure she knows why!!

Glad you dont have to worry thru Thanksgiving!

Hi Loretta! I'm so happy she started getting your scripts to you for future fills. I'm sure you must feel much better knowing you won't have to anxiously wait to see if/when they send everything to your pharmacy when its time for a refill. I had to wait two days for my prescription to get filled and I was only one day later... And had only been on them for two weeks... And I could barely move. I thought about you instantly because I remember you had to wait a week over the summer! This will be so much better!

I'm happy to hear everything worked out!

I also go every 30 days for my Rx's.  (All of them actually).

And my doc has done the same thing, but as long as I'm paying attention, and as long as we communicate and she double checks before sending me out the door, (and even then)* it works out.

*Even if she sends me out the door, the front desk has the sheet indicating Rx's were given and they double check with me.

But with the advent of printed Rx's and not writing them on a script pad, I can see where it can sometimes be confusing.  We're in one room as she prints them out in another room down the hall and has to go retrieve them....

It is a pain in the patootie no doubt, but as you mentioned, they're precious gold in our hot little hands, and it does everyone a favour to be vigilant.

Ditto to what Tina and the others have said about making that monthly appt so you can get your scripts in hand without going through all the mess you have in the past. It does sound like the dr is either extremely busy or just not well organized. I am surprised she did not look in you chart to know when she last filled your scripts, thats sort of scary.

Thank you everyone. I am going to make an appointment next month to get my scripts. It feels much better not having to wait and see if they get to the pharmacy or not.

Glad all went well Loretta.. I do feel for you !!

WC insurance co. Supposedly has hhm think it is 48 hr max to approve (payment of) MY refills.
They routinely take 3 business days to 10 days.. you'll know about withdrawl !!
I have to be careful what I take when I do not have all my scrips available ..
I am always concerned about high blood pressure, the sweating, etc..

Anyway, so When I get near the end of my '30' days scrip, I postpone changing Fentynal patches for several additional hours & ' up ' my break thru meds, etc.

Since Refills are only allowed every 30 days, these delays add up -cumulatively, so after the next appointment I cannot take my new scripts to be filled for days or weeks..

And often techs at the pharmacy do not understand that approval = $0 so, even when I call ahead, I frequently make wasted drives to pharmacy as the scrips are not approved when I get there..

Not what I want to do in even more pain !! And of course, adds in my stress..

Yes I do call my attorney & yes, they do 'make calls' but nothing happens any faster the next month.. this has been going on for years ! After any hearings, approvals are immediate for several months then it starts taking longer & longer..

Here I will refrain from making comments about lawyers & insurance etc - figuratively biting my lip to keep from doing so. -
Especially since I recently read about at least one state that does not have workmans comp !!

I'm so glad to hear that you were able to pick up your prescription for your pain meds.

Very relieved to hear that you didn't have to suffer thru withdrawals. Please make sure you make an appointment next month to pick the script up again.

Hang in there and I pray that you have low pain levels and a gret week.
