Pain Management at.... Starbucks?!

Hey all,

Did anyone see 20/20 on Friday night? It had a story on about a doctor who started seeing "pain patients" (term used loosely) at Starbucks. He'd meet the people there, even take their vitals, collect insane cash amounts (like 400 to 600 a visit) and then script out insane amounts of oxycontin, roxicodone, xanax.

The DEA caught wind of it.... set up an 8 month sting.... and the doctor, on a plea bargain, is about to go serve 11 years.

Wow, what an idiot. He is so flip about what he was doing I cannot believe his attitude. I am extremely disappointed he only got 11 years!!!! Should have got more.

They say caffeine can potentiate pain meds... But I think he took it too far!

Only thing that surprised me about it is he didn't learn from the Florida Drs!! They would rent motel rooms, conference rooms, one even had an RV! Park for the day call you up and if you had $375 you got in the door and out with a script!

They had to pass city regulations preventing them from advertising on Bus benches and the penny saver!?

We went to meet my family in Hollywood, FL down in Dade County and there were lawn signs everywhere pointing out pain clinics. They even had one of the guys twirling a sign at the curb! And this was just last year! I was shocked.

Scary what some of these doctors will do.
