FDA asked to reconsider Zohydro approval

Thanks M&G. Basically 28 state Attorney Generals want it stopped before becoming an epidemic as Oxycontin did. They say its far stronger then heroin and the FDA went against their own committee vote to approve it and used a clinical research study based on eliminating ppl who already had known problems with like meds and this is a method of trial the AGs considered cheating to get the drug approval?

Goes on to say that they will consider setting a time limit to allow the makers to reformulate the med to add abuse deterrent and we all already know that many times when they do that it renders the med useless or far less favorable in its pain relieving qualities.

Kentucky's AG of course is at the forefront of the battle . So once again we're likely to be penalized and blocked from a medication that may have held deep promise for many suffering CP due to the risk of addicts dying? I've said it before and will say it again! If KY would put in place programs that actually treat addiction and make those programs financially possible to them they'll have a far better success rate of dealing with the problem!! Jail is not treatment!!

Medicaid services that dont cover treatment of addiction is only contributing to the problems!

I was doing research on that med yesterday. Interestingly, I came across a thread in which someone asked to be part of the trial for it. He then was speaking with another researcher and was told that they weren't very effective and that's why they discontinued their round of testing. (Apparently there were multiple simultaneous trials going on.)

And I am with Vickie. They should focus their efforts on the folks that are having the issues. Addicts will just move to heroin...what plan is in place to combat that?!

They took it out because it wasn't working as it should and they evidently couldn't figure out how to control the release of the Nal?

It was rendering the med virtually useless?

The newly related has nothing in it as far as deterrent.

Thus the reason for the hoopla!! Recall the fiasco with Talwin years ago? The same problem and now the meds nothing more then a substance that sends you into a tailspin of w/d.
