I came to this forum looking for answers to my chronic Neck pain and unexplained Neuropathy. I had ACD&F December 2012 after a sudden injury that exacerbated ongoing cervical problems. I woke up with excruciating pain in my upper mid back that has not gone away. The Neurosurgeon said that it was muscle related and would eventually resolve. It has not. I also have severe spasms in that area as well as in my neck around the surgical site. Those symptoms I can manage.
For the pain I have had 3 injections in the lower Cervical Facet areas with no pain relief. The PM doctors say that unless I am willing to have more injections they cannot help me.
More recently I have developed severe pain, burning, tingling, sensitivity in my feet. This came on quite suddenly.
I suffered a severe bout of vertigo In September 2013. The ENT sent me to a neuro doc who prescribed Gabapentin for Migraine related vertigo.
about
a week later I developed the neuropathy after a day of standing on my feet all day at work. I remember it vividly as it was not typical foot pain and it did not go away. I called the neuro doc and was concerned that this new med was causing my problem. They actually increased my dosage of the Gabapentin. It has helped, but is still intolerable.
I also have Gastroparesis, which I have managed with diet because I refuse to take Reglan. One known common side effect is tardive diskinesia which is not reversible. My Internal med doctor said ABSOLUTELY do NOT take this..
I have IBS which I also more or less manage with diet. Sometimes the pain gets pretty bad, and the cramps are worse than labor, but it does eventually pass, so to speak.
I have intermittent back and left hip pain, which was helped tremendously by an injection over 3 years ago. I still have some issues and cannot sleep on my left side, but I do not have to use a cane to walk anymore.
So this is my story so far. And the problem at hand is this awful neuropathy in my feet and the neck/upper back pain.
