Welcome Lum to HW. As for your question all i can say is i know they make a tramadol patch and for awhile it was only available in the UK. If it's available here i honestly have to say I've not known or even seen anyone that used it. I recall a few years back someone in RA was going to use it but that's all i
recall . You may try a forum search and see what comes up.

The pain pump usually users generally have narcotics in their pump but at way different amounts and see far different reactions to the meds used it. I guess you could use it for non-opiod therapy with just muscle relaxers and or nerve meds but can't imagine that would be cost effective for your insurance company and if a surgeon would even consider doing it.

What other things do you do or have done such as a Tens or therapy? If you maybe tell us what other meds you've used we may have some alternative ideas .

Anyway glad you joined us and the support we have here is a very important part of most of our treatments .

Thanks for your quick reply.

Basically I have degeneration and hypermobility of the sacroiliac joints. Also I have moderate scoliosis. This has occurred because of wear and tear and possibly some heredity for the scoliosis.

I have been in all sorts of treatment for the last 14 years. You name it and I have done every conservative measure. I even went to China town for a year and boiled God only knows what and drank it for a year to reduce inflammation. No luck.

I wear a sacro brace now and it helps and I use a tens machine and it helps and I take tramadol and advil and tylenol. I have Vicodin but I never take it as it does not really affect the pain much. It just makes me sick and kind of out there with the pain still there. My body does not like opioids.

I think most of my pain is nerve related from the sacrum moving a bit and hitting nerves. A shot of Vodka is the best medecine. So, if I could find an rx that would act on my body like that, it would be good.

Will be going to a new pain center in the hopes of perhaps seeing what is out there now in terms of better meds for me. Has anyone had luck with medical marajuana?

Also, I have had tons of therapies water, land and I try and do all of my strengthening exercises when I can. I do walk everyday. If I do not move, I have no pain. I would really just like to stay in bed. I believe much of my problem is mechanical. All of this arose after menopause and I think some lack of estrogen must have relaxed muscles or something. All the surgeons have told me they cannot fix this. It is in a very bad place. As with many women, I have had a lot of wear and tear on that part of my body.

I guess I do not understand why there isn't this great miracle pill that you can take and puff goes your nerve pain.

lumiere Welcome to Healing Well Chronic Pain Forum, Since you live in Chicago area, have you been able to go to Rush and get checked out? If you haven't then that would be my suggestion is to try and get a referral and get this checked out there. I would think if any medical institution in your area could help you that would be the place, as they are a well known medical school. Just a thought, if you haven't already been there.
