Misty,
Don't let docs minimize what you're feeling. The definition of a specialist is you have what he treats. Keep looking for the cause of the problem.
One thing to consider: I get "restless legs" symptoms from some of the meds I have tried. It's painful, currently wakes me up about 3 AM after taking nortriptyline, which I'm trying for pain.
Second thought: There's nothing wrong with my nerves in my arms and legs, but I had C3-4 fusion from crushing 6 vertebrae and discectomy because of a burst disc after falling on my head. The numbness and tingling and burning and pins and needles feelings I call my "not-real", "all-in-my-head pain." The cause is that the messages from my extremities (and everywhere else below my shoulders) is being scrambled when it gets to the level of the damaged area of the spinal cord. I have fair sensitivity for "real" pain as well as touch in most places, like the impingement in my shoulder. Cold though, is excruciating. It is not necessary to have had such a severe accident as I had, and this problem (central cord syndrome) can occur months or even years after a spinal injury or stroke.
Get copies of all test results, disks of all imaging, and keep a journal of all your symptoms. If you are trying various medicines, put that in your journal too. For instance: I know that my med is causing my leg cramping/twitching because it always occurs the same time after taking it.
