Spinal ablation

I am  scheduled for the spinal ablation on the lumbar region on Tuesday.  Any comments on what I should expect during and after the procedure would be appreciated.

Are you referring to facet joint nerve ablation? Have you had injections there to test for that being the problem?

I had a half dozen of them last spring and they worked well, although the pinched nerves are starting to give me pain again now. They normally last 3 to 9 months and then the nerves do grow back.

I found the ablations to be no worse than the routine injection. I never have any sort of sedation. My doctors don't even offer it. (They might if asked.) I do say ouch a few times, but I'm not a nervous nellie and am happy to hold still and walk out with relief from pain.

I go right back to my regular activities. Since the ablations were done after testing, they were expected to work, and they did.

I think I would ask my dr & see what he has to say about walking the dog. If the dog is a tugger & walks you instead of you walking him this could be contributing to some of your back pain.

He's a 22 month old Bullmastiff and Pit Bull mix (a rescue).  He is pretty good about not pulling, but can get excited if he sees a cat. 

I am one of those people that can't survive well without a dog.  I have always had mastiffs so this is standard for me. 

Thanks for the input, I will speak to the doctor and just in case I'll be a dog walker for the first 2 days.  I am fortunate to have some great neighborhood kids that I can trust.
