PAIN IN LEGS CALFS AND FEET.

HI I wanted to know if any one had a test for autonomic neuropaphy. This is a test for your small nerves all Inside your body? I had one yesterday and I will not find out the results until Feburary 20 th. I all so had a EMG test of my big nerves and muscles . The doc said they were very good. No problems. If any body had a autonomic neuropathy test. and if you have autonomic neuropathy could you tell me your symptoms? Thank you Misty.

Misty, have you tried looking this up at a reputable web site like the Mayo Clinic? That would be an excellent site to read about it. Also, I was wondering if any of your drs have talked about trying you on any of the nerve meds like Gabapentin, Lyrica or Neurotin for your neuropathy? If not I would talk to them about trying one of these.

Hi stray dog. I don't know if I have neuropathy or not. I won't know until I see the neuroligist on the 20 th. The neuroligist did a EMG test on my large nerves and mucsles and he told me they were in very good shape. no problems. Now I have to find out about the small nerves. I did not look it up the neuroligist suggested it. Misty.

Hi Stray dog. I went to the neuroligist yesterday and he said my small nerves were fine. He thinks its all anxiety. Misty

I had pain in calves and feet and saw 3 orthopedic surgeons who couldn't think up a cause. I went to a podiatrist who told me it was from my spine. My pain doc gave me a spinal injection and the pain went away permanently.

Just my experience.

I had a similar test...and didn't see any problems with my nerves relaying information...was believed it was my spine sending too many pain signals. Injections help me...but I would suggest looking into Lyrica...it also helps with Anxiety supposedly...so even if it is anxiety, it may help.

Something to think about.

HiAlcie andMrjnt. I got my results and my small nerves are fine. They said its all anxiety. How did you guys find out it was coming from your spine? Did they do a certain test? Did you guys injure your back or did your back hurt? Misty.

I have a herniated disc...then a failed back surgery. So, they assume it is coming from there...and was then put on Lyrica.

 I had a "Nerve Conduction" test/It was torture./Shocking me with a weak taser.Sticking needles in my foot and hooking wires to them and putting juice to them.

It lasted around 40 minutes.

Worse than a heart cath,maybe.

The Doctor said it would show a "pinched nerve".

Had it January 28th and my Doctor hasn't received the results as of  Monday.

I don't have Neuropathy.

What kind of Dr told you the pain in your legs was anxiety? Good grief! Can't find a cause for our pain and all the answers suddenly lay in our mental health?

Find a reputable board certified neurologist! Almost all leg, calf and foot pain without injury leads back to a spinal problem somewhere.

Hi nvrthsame98. I went to one of the best neuroligist. He told me my large nerves and muscles were very good and my small nerves were fine. I don't have a back injurey. But I will ask him about the spine. I had anxiety 7 or 8 years and ago and my legs were burning then but it went away. Misty.

Yeah the old, "Can't see it, must be mental!" can be a bit annoying. Especially since any pain you feel WILL make you anxious/stressed in dealing with it....and even if it is "all in your head!"...that doesn't mean it is less "real"

I had a great bone doc tell me(after I asked if the pain could be partly in my "head"), "All pain is in our heads...that's kinda how the CNS works..." ha!

Josh, yeah,....see, that's the actual technicality. "Pain," in and of itself is a "perception". That perception does take place in our brains, so yeah, in that regard, sure, it's in our heads. But sheesh, it starts somewhere!

Good grief,...the way so many doctors spout out that comment. It's as if,....if the cause doesn't jump out and latch onto their face, it's easier for them to say it's our anxiety or imagination, than to pursue further options.
