So a few weeks back I went to ER to have my right shoulder relocated. They refused to access my port because they could not find a bio patch that was now a must due to new policy.
(Editing this to make it shorter)
After one bad IV in wrist( that I still had to convince was not in even though it was red/swollenht )
Nurse gets flash in the ac. I tell her it is uncomfortable but it did seem to flush. She pushed some pain meds & I thought it was strange that I didn't feel it at all, she says it flushes so it's working but it's up you. They are the ones who should be able to know if an IV is good & I'm now going several hours of severe pain and I'm getting beyond frustraed.
Doctor pushes diprivan( protocol). 80mg later I tell him i am wide awake and my arm is really burning(IV is in left arm). He's unhappy. They access port an relocate shoulder.
An hour later I'm almost home and start screaming my arm hurts so badly.(the one w/ the IV) I was admitted as they feared necrosis or other scary things as documented cases most ended w/ surgery. A week later my arm has an obvious chemical burn now on outside. Red,swollen, hot, deep sores. Admitted again.
(It is compared to chemo going undertaking rather than in vein.)
The burn doesn't hurt as bad as my entire arm internally. Dr says lymph node is also involved. Nerve pain is bad too. Having to go to pain Dr now.
He's not so nice and is convinced on pill every 12 hrs is enough. He feels I need to detox to lower my tolerance(i agree it's way to high as nothing helped my pain) b4 he can treat the pain. Inpatient after the first day of getting IV pain meds he made all Drs dc IV meds, even benadryl.
Would go somewhere else but my drs have so many new rules that after one script
they have to refer you to PM and nobody close takes my insurance. That combined with my history makes things too complicated!!
I want to sue or something for malpractice. This is crazy!
