Cleveland Clinic Pain Rehabilitation Program

To start with. I am a 37, and have had a severe, debilitating pain in my left abdominal for over 2 years. I have gone to countless drs. No one has been able to diagnosis me.
At this point, all life threatening diseases have been ruled out so now I have to learn to live with this horrible pain.
I just got back from the Cleveland Clinic where I was offered to come to thier Chronic Pain Rehabiliation Program.
I would have to live in Cleveland for 4 weeks in a hotel at my cost.
If I knew the program worked I would find the money for the hotel and tg e program.
What I want to know is: Has anyone ever been in the program? I would like to talk with them. I am also being treated for Fibromyalgia too.

Is this a Chronic Pain Rehab clinic or a Rehab clinic for prescription meds for Chronic Pain? If my hunch is right it is to get you off your pain meds if you are on them.

Mayo Clinic also has this, or at least they did. Along time ago, at the urging of my youngest daughter who is a nurse up there, I acquiesces to going up there for an evaluation, one of the doctors I had seen had a fit because I was on 20mg of Oxycontin every 12 hours. And they just had a last minute cancelation so they had an opening in there out patient prescription drug rehab program, and he wanted me to go through it! So I went over to their clinic and done the interview. I talked to them about it, and they told me that they could not relieve my pain but just get me off the pain meds. They admitted that since I was not abusing them or anything and I was not taking them for pleasure, that the clinic might not be that helpful to me. So I declined, because they were not addressing the issues I had went up there for! And I could not , at that time, stay up there, on that short of notice, even though I could of stayed with my daughter. Anyway all they did was redo all the test that had been previously done, and wanted me to come back in a few months, which I did not do! I didn't see that they did or were able to do anything any better than the doctors that I had treating me, back at home!

Just my experience, I would definitely check the place out thoroughly first before making a commitment! Who knows maybe they can be of help to you, everyone is different, and what might work for one person might not work for another, and vice-versa!
