Apply ER/LA Requirements to IR Opioids

I thought they had lost their minds when they initiated the labeling of LA meds and not IR.

They've contradicted every study done as to which meds are the most widely abused. For example, it was Oxy IR that rocked Florida and created all this mess. Dilaudid is now the drug of choice here since the oxy is unattainable, hydrocodone has long since been the forerunner in most abused opiates! All of these are short acting or IR meds.

I don't exactly understand the concept that LA meds are more dangerous and lethal? Maybe if used incorrectly but what junkie is using the IR meds correctly?

My other point of contention with this is most LA manufacturers have implementation safeguards to prevent abuse of strong LA meds. None of the IR contain anything of the kind.

All this comes back to me as just another stab at CPers and eliminating the stab for acute issues.
