I take pain meds 3 per day, then 1 LA at night (which I'm still working on). My PMD mentioned discussing starting to taper me down as of this next visit (even though last visit was the first time she added a LA for nights, which are my toughest times). Can't imagine what she wants to take away.
It wreaks confusion with my body to get a good 4-5 hours, while medicated, where I'm at a 3/4 and I can handle that. (That's when I get told things like, "Gee, you sure don't look like you're in pain, look what you're doing, you look great, if you were in this much pain you wouldn't be able to work out at a gym")
Escaping these "road scholars" is that in a gym, it's a controlled environment, controlled movement, slow and repetitive on various muscle groups, changing position often, and yes,...to look at me in a gym environment, I am strong.
Then doing things like cleaning the house (done in pieces), the bathrooms (done in pieces), folding laundry (one of the worse), waiting in doctor's offices and waiting rooms, standing in line and lots of sitting will spike me to where I can't move, and I won't move, I need help getting to bed (the walking over part, I can get in and out fine).....and if I take a shower, a simple shower my back gets angry. Even angrier if I shave my legs, so I have an on-again-off-again Yeti thing going at the moment.
Is it the fact I have those few hours where I'm at 3/4 and can try and get a few tasks done,....even if the rest of my afternoon, evening and night get worse,.....that's still acceptable.
I see my PMD in 2 weeks....not sure of how our discussion will go....
So pain meds work well but I'm concerned that in addition, I maintain 3 grams of Tylenol also, per day.
