I think (and she will correct me if I am wrong), what Vickie was getting at is this: First, it should not be "common" and should not even remotely be put into such a category.
IF this is something that happens, if it begins to happen, it is indicative of a severe problem in need of immediate attention before it becomes permanent and you lose control of more things.
Having bulging or herniated disks in general does not always produce the same symptoms in every person (there are a great many factors to consider).
However, if you even begin to feel this is happening, then fast, like yesterday, please consult with a board certified neurosurgeon.
I am speaking from experience. I am a woman but prior to my surgery, I was just beginning to lose control (of a few things)....and I thank God, and I thank my wonderful surgeon for sparing me from what would have easily become an irreversible nightmare of circumstances.
This is not to be trifled with.
